This probably is your homework, so you only get a starting point here. What he means is that keeping one's customs, traditions and in some cases language is not looking down at anyone else's culture, especially if one now lives in a place where theirs is not the dominant culture.
In the case of immigrants (legal or otherwise)living in America, it means that while we should expect them to assimilate into our society (for example, by learning enough English so that they can eventually function without needing a translator or bilingual signs...that's probably the major way), we can't expect them to become 100% Americanized and totally abandon the culture they came from...and we shouldn't take it as a slam on American culture when they don't.
There...try to make sense of that answer...I'm not sure I do...and I made it up...good luck with the essay.

I do not like that guy. **** farm workers rights lol their illegal aliens anyway. My grandfather was a farmer and hired them and he really disliked Cesar Chavez. Anyway this is a question for homework I know that and if you can't make up an opinion yourself your a god damn idiot.
