I mean I know it can be uncomfortably sometimes but, come on! Jesus endured a horribly crusifiction for us but we act like we're ashamed of him. Can anyone really give me a good reason?

For the Believers: it may be true that some people do stand up, but why is it then th eworld is controled by all the others?

For non-Believers: you say the Bible is inncorrect or "scientifically" disproved, but can you name me one example?

Ummmm.... Isn't that what we're doing here???????lol I mean, I can't just set by while somebody bashes us here in Yahoo Answers, or in real life. Personally, I don't hide the fact that I am a Christian.

As a matter of fact, they call me Reverend and Preacher on my job. I've been called "squeaky", "Narrow minded", " Homophobic", just to name some of the nice ones. Christ himself says that the world will hate us for his name's sake. The problem sometimes is that some people who call themselves "Christians" aren't really all that. They don't follow the example of Christ at all. When we look in the book of Acts, we find men who really had the mind of Christ, and rejoiced in the fact that the world hated them. "We" want to tuck our tail between our legs and run when the world stops being friends with us when the Bible declares that they will do just that.
Me personally, I'd be checking myself if they didn't dislike me. When I was worldly, the world was my friend. If they do me like they did Steven in Acts, I hope I can ask for their forgiveness, but with all truth, I'll be promoted!!!!!!!!!

May God truly Bless You.............
A thought to ponder............
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:16-18(emphasis on "if so be that we suffer with him")

You go Girl! Christians that don't stand up in public or private for their belief, then I truly wonder if there is real Faith there. When I was first ' Born-Again ', My faith was weak, and I asked my Pastor in private how do I know? He said to me, Do you enjoy hearing Gospel or Christian music on your car radio? Do you know when someone is not quoting Scripture, and when He is ? He took me up behind the Podium, and He said, Imagine the congregation is all here......how many do you think will be going to Heaven? I replied all. He smiled, and said that if we were lucky, 20 % at the most. You see, Hell will be full of 'believers' who really think that they are saved, when they aren't. Stand up for your faith, even if they tell you you will beheaded if you don't. You see, all those that refuse to take the Mark of the Beast , will have that to face for Jesus. Stand strong. God Bless !!

The same reason Peter denied Jesus three times, as Jesus knew he would - human weakness, fear of ridicule, of what others think of them. I think alot more Christians are standing up for their faith, even as you read some answers on this website, even tho they are put down alot. It's hard to go against the grain, but I agree that this is a small thing to stand up for Our Lord when He died for us!! We will all be accountable for this. As for me, I will never hear those 7 saddest words from the Lord: Depart from me, I never knew you". Good reason for not standing up for our faith-- NONE.

Peer pressure, the potential of being criticized or ridiculed by others is powerful motivating factor for some people.

I do stand for my faith. But, for some reason, here on Yahoo Answers, I get condemned for doing so. Of course this just makes me want to do it even more.

Probably because there's nothing to stand up for. There's no evidence to support your claims. All you can try to do is defend your individual interpretation of an ancient book; much of which has been scientifically proven to be false.

Fear.
of being ridiculed, judged, spit on ,stones thrown at them, burned alive, taken away by the current government and shot, hanged, or crucified on the cross.
It's happened before and even in the Bible it says it will happen again.
Mostly it happens because it is the fulfillment of prophesy

Yes....it's awfully hard to be a Christian in a society where %75 of the population is also Chrsitian.

It must be so difficult....people telling you that you can't change the laws....these awful gay people who want rights.....

It's such a burden to be the oppressed majority....let me grab you my spare kleenex.

Most people are afraid of ridicule. Then some go overboard to compensate for that.
