Its amazing that you went and had a tatoo of something you dont know and understand. I think thats taking it to the extremes!

I had a look at your picture and my conclusion is like the one which was already given some time ago.
They are neither Chinese nor Japanese Kanji.
These three letter-like things are all just some independent parts of Chinese letters so each of them cannot be a single letter which has some meaning in it.
However, if you insist to have any slightest meaning in those letters or signs, they can be interpreted as the original ancient forms of the parts of Chinese characters.
The top one looks like Japanese KATAKANA "tsu", which can be interpreted as something like "a port" or " a shore".
The second one looks more like proper Kanji, as it has the authentic Kanji character of "power" at the right part.
It can be interpreted as a Chinese calligraphy form of Kanji, which means "a skill" or "an achievement".
As for the bottom one, it is definitely a part of Chinese characters. It is commonly used on top of a number of Chinese characters such as "house" and "palace".
The root-meaning of this part is "a roof".

I looked at your picture and to me it is not Chinese. It looks like a part of some Chinese characters. I think that someone screwed you really bad if you have a chance to take them to court I would.
I am back and I notice that there are people giving you more info following me and that's pretty much true what they are saying. Someone it seems has faked knowing Chinese. (or Japanese for that matter... it is parts of word or sound characters or a kana character in Japanese.) But, it is not a cohesive whole anything.

I lived in Japan for a couple of years and what you've got is a few components of chinese characters jumbled about.
For example, the flat one at the bottom usually appears at the top of more complicated characters like a kind of roof.
Sorry to say it, but your tattoo probably doesn't mean much.

It's not Chinese word. The upper one look like Japanese word, the middle one can be separate by two part (left and right). The left part is a stroke (strokes to combine word in Chinese) that mean "water", but the right part is not a word or stroke, it's totally not the the way how Chinese word/stroke is structured. The bottom one is a stroke mean "family".
Anyway, strokes is not word, so its actually has no meaning at all.

It's not modern-day Chinese. Could be Japanese, 'old' Chinese or just parts of Chinese words...

it is not katakana , hiragana or kanji and not even korean .
meaning it is not japanese or chinese at all.
Only the top part resembles " shi " in japanese.
I think they really screwed your tattoo.seriously.
