People think that Pagans eat children and are bad witches. I have actually had people tell me this. I know this is not true, but a lot of people are uneducated about paganism....It makes me irate that people just assume without even researching it. I would suggest that when people discriminate or are rude about it, tell them to do some ACTUAL research on paganism before judging: Good luck to you and blessed be.
I would also like to point out to some of you that pagans are NOT devil worshipers...I have also been told that, this is not true....see what I mean? People are sooooooo uneducated about this.

You just answered your own question. Anyone that is rude and/or discriminates usually doesn't have a great reason for hating someone else. They just do. Ignorance of what it really is has alot to do with it as well. Most people think all pagans are witches and dance around a big pot by the light of the moon and put curses on people. Anyone that gets their information from a movie usually isn't playing with a full deck anyway.
You shouldn't let it bother you. They're the ones with the problem. You're not hurting anyone and your beliefs are actually quite peaceful and rooted in nature so there's no big deal. In fact, alot of religious holiday take from pagan rituals so if those hateful people had half a brain, they'd realize they're participating in pagan rituals themselves. They'd never admit to it though so the stupidity cycle goes on & on.

I really don't think that Paganism is exclusive to rudeness. People are rude to just about anything if they consider it something that they either don't understand or have a different view on.
And people really have to watch out if you answer any religious question with an honest opinion of your own, as if it is not what others think then boy can they be really shitty about it.
So I think people are just naturally rude so you really are in a majority there and not a minority.
So welcome!

Theists generally refuse to consider any belief that is not their own. Why should Pagans be spared this?

it is what they are taught to do.
however we are capable of avoiding much of this discrimination by simply blending in with "normal"society.
blending in is part of what we do. the burning times are not that far past, and could return. the ability to disappear into society is what has kept our people alive for the last 2000 years.

Because people fear what they don't understand. And most will not bother to try to understand what paganism actually entails...
