What did you do? Did you tell them or leave it for others to find? Ever had the toilet overflow at someone's house?

Thats really uncool & yes its happened to me a few times.

(1) First I will check the cisten - if it has water - then I know how to pull the levers inside & get it to work, if the cisten is dry I try step 2

(2) Then I will try to find a bucket or mug , then a tap , then I would use the bucket/mug to fill the cisten.

In one case I actually used a wastebin in the bathroom , as there was no mug or bucket.

Once I used the spray / sprinkler to fill the cisten

(3) If for some reason I just cant resolve the problem , I will put the lid down and inform my host - its embarassing for the host & also for me - but what the heck, technically not my fault & I have tried very hard to flush the damn thing.

i imagine Sparky became touching on what i'd call a "sparkling out." The sparkling out..... is a roughed partly of the plumbing (continually on the bottom factor of your residing house).... the position you could absolutely unscrew a large cap and get entry to the sewer line immediately. until eventually you've a really previous plumbing equipment your residing house very likely has a sparkling out. it really is an gruesome job.... notwithstanding it beats spending a gaggle of money to have some different person do it. typically operating a pipe snake by the sparkling out is a recommendations extra helpful than attempting to extra healthful it by all the tight turns on your rest room. EDIT: No it isn't a needed replace.... notwithstanding it really is a few thing that i imagine each cutting-edge construction code calls for. it really is because your problem is so common.... and reducing into pipes (and repairing them) is so confusing... they in simple terms require an ordinary restore with the intention to get entry to the waste water equipment without wide expenses. A one hundred year previous residing house likely does no longer have a sparkling out until eventually the plumbing has been as a lot as date. A one hundred year previous residing house would also advise a worst case scenario regrettably... that being that area of the sewer line has collapsed by using age/ root infiltration/ rust (those previous pipes are likely solid iron) etc. the in effortless words thanks to make sure will be to have the sewer line scoped... some thing a plumber or residing house inspector will be in a position to do for you. My acquaintances lately had that problem.... and it required the excavation of their decrease back backyard and round $15K.... so i actually wish that could no longer it. EDIT 2: i wish it really is not any longer that too.... yet sewer lines do not very last always.... and likely... it really is what it prices. it really is because they ought to dig up the former line out of your residing house out to the middle of the line (or everywhere the sewer significant runs).... replace that lengthy area of sewer pipe.... fill interior the excavation.... and then re-pave the area of the line they had to tear up. it really is a mess. optimistically it really is a immediately ahead blockage interior the line. reliable success.

one time last summer my best friend went to the bathroom at this guy's house and did a number 2. She flushed the toilet and then quickly came out of the bathroom and grabbed me and ran out of the house. the following week, we heard that the guy's house was filled with backed up sewage because someone had plugged the same toilet my friend had used...

It has happened to me twice. The first time a plunger was handy so I was able to conceal the fact. The second time, however, I am embarrassed to admit it was at a family event with many guests, so I simply left it to be found by another. Now that I am a little more mature, I would tell the host if I could not take care of it myself.

I have a family whose toilet dont flush, you have to fill a pail with water and throw it gently in the bowl. I dont think I would leave it for no one to find out... Its embarrassing the would know you last used it...But if it overflowed, then your in trouble... I would just offer to help clean it up... Hey **** happens in life...
