Banyan Tree in Phuket, Thailand. Voted best resort in the world by Conde Nast readers. The Laguna Phukhet area in Bang Tao beach has 6 or so nice resorts that allow access to each other's facilities so if you can't afford $700+ per night (it's still a bargain) you can stay close by and be able to visit Banyan Tree's spas, golf course, restaurants etc. You don't get hassled by vendors at the beach either, not like you do at Patong.
