Well, i post here now as proof that the courts may not be quite as prejudiced as we liked to believe, i have primary physical custody of my daughter, her mother was never proven to be or even investigated if she were an unfit mother..granted i didnt go in to court trying to accuse her of that, but she was quick to start pointing fingers, making up stories, being rediculously defensive over what was just supposed to be a Father making sure he was an equal part of his childs life, and it came down to the mediator having a meeting with us both, using whatever criteria SHE was to use..(i thought i was doomed when the mediator turned out to be a woman) ..but nope..back into court ..the mediator and the judge enforced her reccomendation that she stay in my care with reasonable visitation given to her mother, and chose no to persue child support ..because...ok ..well that was dumb of me..lol...but yeah...many variables there..i just dont think enough fathers really TRY to win custody as much as they really really should.

Depends, in what circumstances are you asking?
Often the mother will gain custody or custody will be shared. You need to explain circumstances. In the situation of a separation you and your partner can come to an agreement without the courts, or if the courts become involved then they will consider what is best for the child.

the mother frequently receives usual custody of the youngster, notwithstanding it really is typically the acceptable parental discern for the youngster. for instance, at times the daddy ought to get custody, because the mother is a drug addict, yet in simple terms because the daddy would get custody if so does no longer advise the custody couldn't be signed over to the mother, because the daddy in now no longer in a position to guard the youngster. Most of the time it is still the mother, however more and more courts are giving custody to the father beccause a lot more father's are stepping up wanting to be care givers and a lot more father's are proving to be better parents than some mothers.

Courts generally rule in the mothers favour, but it all depends on the circumstances. Shared custody is also an option

The mother, Unless the mother is the main problem, then there will be a big dispute, but the court system will rule the mother in favor even though the kids are in danger with the mom...Thats the USA Court System!
