So tomorrow I'm checking out and gonna leave my bags there for the day; a bellman will just give me a ticket for it, not actually help to carry them or anything. Should I tip him and how much? I don't have much experience with tipping...

It is definitely up to the customer's consideration and how greeted guest is with the hotel service provided at the time... I work in front office of a 4* hotel and I have received up to a $200.00 tip from only one customer... now I go above and beyond without specting anything back. But even if you only get your luggage carriaged; you should tip at least 5 dollars, how can anyone pay over $1000.00 dollars for a room but tip a dollar or two... that's very getto. The Bellmen salary is very low just like waitress; they live on the tip...

First, call the bell desk and have them come to your room to pick up your bags.

Five dollars per bag. Reason being: You can afford to stay at a four-star hotel, you should be able to tip the staff properly. Think of it this way, how much is it WORTH to you for a stranger to watch your bags for the day?

Also, don't forget to tip the housekeeping staff if the room was kept clean during your stay. You can leave your tip on the night-stand.

$ 20 bucks in a high cost city like New York, San Francisco, Chicago or Honolulu, $ 10 bucks anywhere else. You should also leave a tip for the housekeeper (those ladies bust their butts cleaning up after you!) - I'd suggest $ 10 for each day you stayed if you're in NYC, SF, Chicago or Honolulu, nd $ 5 for each day anywhere else.

On arrival tip 10 percent of the room rate for one night. If you are staying in $100/night room tip $10. If you are staying in $1,000/night room, tip $100. On departure, tip 5 percent.

Depends on how good the service is. I'd say $5-10.
