If you find the answer let me know. The only thing that works for me is Xanax, and docs act like Xanax nazi's. They push SSRI meds on you-and for me it just aggrivates it. Sometimes, when I have breakthrough anxiety, I just try to put my mind into a place that is "between" thoughts and see how long I can keep it there.

I have anxiety. I just have to talk myself through them and tell myself that no one ever died from an anxiety attack and it will pass. I have to keep myself busy if i feel anxious to keep my mind off things. At night I very occasionally take Tylenol Pm (which are safe and approved by my OB. All it is, is Tylenol and Benadryl) if I am having a really hard time getting to sleep. Counseling has helped me in the past. Just having someone to talk things out to helps a great deal sometimes. Try to find what is triggering your attacks and try to avoid those things if possible, at least while you are pregnant. I'm not sure what trimester you are in, but the first trimester is especially hard. Your hormones are going crazy anyway and adding anxiety to that just makes it worse. It does get better. I would stay away from medications if possible. Most of them are a category D. Not good!! In the beginning of pregnancy they can cause birth defects and at the end of pregnancy they can be addictive to the fetus. Good luck. I know how you are feeling!

Hi Texas!!
First i want to let you know that you are not alone. I have panic and anxiety disorder bad. I also have to be on meds daily most of the time. We are here for each other. First If you are still getting attacks 3 times a day while on meds you need to go back to your Docs and tell them. Sounds like you need some diff meds. Have you been taking them consistently or have you missed some days? Here for you!!
God Bless you

My mum has had this for years and her medication is actually a pill that they prescribe for Epilepsy- it had helped her immensly. There is not really any cure or medication that I can advise you on except that it does get a lot better with time. My mum can actually control hers now and can tell when they are coming on. We (all the family) can tell as well and we often just talk absolutely rubbish about anything and get her thinking about other things until the panic attack passes.

If you are afraid to go online well there are a lot of books written about panic attacks and my mum found these very helpful.

Good luck with it, and just know that it will get easier to control and live with.

HI , from downunder :),
I have read the answers to ur question and its true , meds do help. But as I was told by my doc. "they are only a bandaid ". Meds take the edge off your feelings and they help but I highly suggest that you find other ways of coping and ways to overcome the terrifying sensations of panic attacks. I myself have suffered this disorder for around 4 years now and after finding help I was pretty much back to my usual self. I can offer you a bit of help if u like and email you some great techniques. Hope u get better soon.

You should definitely be talking to a doctor, and preferably a psychiatrist (but a regular doc is fine for a first visit).

Skin crawling sensation suggests that some other drug may be in your system. Could this be part of the problem?

Personally, I take Buspar (buspirone) for anxiety. It works like a miracle. People don't gravitate to it like Xanax and other drugs because Buspar is non-addictive. It is also cheap.

Continue to see you doctor and tell him all of this, eventually you'll find the right amount of the proper meds that will work best for you (this may take some time so try to be patient).
Also be sure to get cous3elining/therapy, they will teach you techniques to learn how to work with the attacks, and they do help (breathing, thinking , etc.)
Best of luck,,,,been there,,,,it's not fun, I know.

You should talk to your doctor and tell him exactly what is going on. They can prescribe medicine to make them stop. I had really bad attacks like yours and they put me on medicine and I didn't have anymore after that. Just talk to your doctor and he can find the best way to help you.
