I'd like to know if anyone out there hs personally experienced this or knows anyone who has: I would like to marry my Philippine fiancee who is (and has been for some time) a resident alien of Hong Kong. Her status as 'married' is all that stands in the way. I know that she can divorce in Hong Kong and, yes, I know that the divorce will never be recognized in the Philippines. What I want to know is whether this divorce will be recognizd by US Immigration authorities for purposes of K-1 visa and eventual marriage in the United States. We plan to live in the United States and her goal is citizenship. Can anyone share their experience or refer me to someone who has done this? Thank you one and all for reading.

US will not recognize the divorce unless the Philippines recognizes as well. A check is always made before a US marriage license is issued.
