I'm 13, 5'4" and 160 pounds I want to be 115 when it's all said & done. I want to be 130 by the 1st of June maybe July.
Tonight I've done:
200 leg lifts [ 100 on each side ]
250 crunches [ soon to be 350 crunches ]
My mom bought Billy Banks Tabeo on eBay about three days ago, so I'll be doing that too.
Please do not say "Your too young to worry about your weight!" I'm not, and I need to do something about it.
At this rate, do YOU think I could get to 130 by June 1st?
I eat about 1,000 calories a day now.
Do you recommend do more/less of something, or suggest a new something.
Thanks so much. :)

Ridiculous as it sounds, one of the most important aspects of prolonged weight loss is making sure you actually eat enough. If you don't your body will go into starvation mode and start hoarding every calorie you ingest, causing you to be able to gain weight even on a very restricted diet. Considering how active you are, I think you ought to be eating more [though I can't say exactly how much because I don't know enough about your lifestyle].

Leg lifts and crunches are good; they both build muscle and muscle mass is what causes you to burn fat. I don't really know anything about the Taebo workout so I can't give you much advice for that. I would suggest you talk to a doctor, nutritionist, or trainer about what a good program would be for you as well as what some realistic goals would be. Depending on your build, 115 could be just fine or it could be unhealthily low. Keep in mind that muscle is about twice as dense as fat, so you can get very lean and fit and weigh a good amount more than someone of approximately the same size with lower muscle mass. I would suggest that instead of having a goal weight, try to have a goal body fat percentage [about 22% would probably be good for your age; you're still growing and maturing so you need to make sure you have adequate fat]. Don't use BMI calculators; they're not nearly as accurate for most people as one would hope. Instead, go to a gym or ask a doctor to measure for you.

And don't forget, it's much healthier to be a little overweight than to be too underfat. Being healthy is an admirable goal, but it isn't always the same thing as being 'attractive' and thin. Good luck!

That is only a slightly unrealistic goal. I was 162 last July, and am now down to 135. You have a higher metabolism then me, so you might be able to do it, but you should leave yourself some breathing room. No one wants to quit eating pizza and chocolate forever, am I right? But if you're really hardcore about losing the weight, you should get really close.

But I think you're going a little overboard on the leg lifts and crunches. If you're doing them properly and 'holding' them up to flex the muscle long enough, you don't need to do near that many. And don't just do one type of leg lift - make sure you're working all the muscles in your thighs; inner, outer, glutes. Same with crunches - do sideways crunches for your obliques, and stuff for lower abs. I personally use an exercise video (Gilad Janklowicz) so I know just what to do.

But 1000 calories is WAY too few. As a growing girl, you need to be eating at least 1700 a day, at least thats a ballpark figure in my head. I make sure I consume that many a day and I'm done growing!

For max results, do your Tae Bo Mon, Wed, and Fri, and do your leg lifts, crunches, and arm strengthening exercises on Tues, Thurs, and Sat. Your muscles grow in the time between working them, not during. If you don't allow them to recuperate, they'll not do anything at all.

And just on a personal note, I think 115 is just a little too light for someone who is 5'4. I would aim for 120 at least; you're going to have muscle which weighs more than fat. But seriously, you are pretty young. Don't take it TOO seriously.

A lot of people don't realize all the health benefits of the Acai Berry. Oprah has had Dr. OZ on her show talking about how it is a superfood. The vitamins and anti-oxidents it contains allow rapid weight loss in many people. There are even reports of people losing 40-50lbs in 3 months using Acai.

Well... if you are really desperate, you gotta take desperate measures, though its not recommended!

45 pounds in 5-6ish months is a good goal I guess. Cut pop and chips. Keep it low with carbs and eat healthier. If you actually cut pop and chips and all that junk, you'll actually lose weight by just cutting it out of your diet. Work out atleast an hour a day (run/walk with an incline 30minutes++ on the treadmill works for me) , drink LOTS of water and get plenty of sleep.

good luck my deaaar =)

You need to eat girl, just eat healthy stuff, good proteins and dark colored vegetables.

I don't know about the amount of exercises you're doing, but Oh My Goodness.

There's a possiblity of losing that much weight but be careful how you do it, you don't want to shock your body or something. Your body is only going to go down to what it wants to go down too.
Good Luck :D

ok well hon i totally sympathize with you...its not easy to stay focused like this, but what i would recommend is to keep doing the crunches and what not, but also do some running (yes i know its terribly boring) but maybe pick up a sport or something and just have fun with it! ok seriously though, if you're going to lose weight, you need to think about this: muscles burn more calories than fat right? and you want to burn the calories obviously...so you should probably try to get some 5 lbs weights, not too much and gradually work up to 10 lbs or something, but this is just for toning the muscles. if you want some excercises that you can do, feel free to email me!!!

also, to build the muscles for burning cals. and all that, you should exclude pretty much all "bad stuff" ex. our favorites...its tough...but cake, ice cream, brownies, french fries...ouch. i know, but hey, you gotta start somewhere... also though, reward yourself for keeping on track with little things, like a good desert of bad stuff once a week or something

whats really important though, is that you keep at it. i worked out for just a week and noticed that i felt more energetic and stuff...what keeps me going half the time is the music that i listen to!!! no joke! i live off of my ipod!! but anyways....

you should eat lots of good lean protein like chicken to help build your muscles (im not talking like hella buff ppl here, just toned muscles...lol) and slim down. also, be sure to stay well hydrated. i know they say all the time drink water drink water drink water, but really, it makes you feel a lot fuller and half the time you think you're hungry, but you're really just thirsty, at least thats the case with me...
***pay attention to WHAT you eat, not the NUMBER of CALORIES!!!!!!!!! unless you're a wiz at math...uh definitely NOT me!! then i find it MUCH easier to just look for the healthy things and not the splenda-ized stuff thats "healthy chemically altered" or whatever....

SO. hope all that helped!! lol email me any time and im right behind you all the way !!!!! xoxo, caitlyn

I was always someone who liked to run. I'm 13 and weigh 95 pounds. I guess running must work. Or try doing a sport, my sister lost weight from being in basketball.

well really being thin isnt always in anymore, but I wouldnt go much less then 125, otherwise, you may loose to much and become anorexic, believe me you dont want to be there, Ive been there and done that. But if you are into exercising, then try step areobics, its a great work out and so arent pilates. Good luck in your weight loss, but please be careful. You are young and you dont want to loose too much.

If your calorie intake is too low, your body goes into starvation mode and does not burn calories as fast..
