Best way to deal with it is to talk about it. Get a person that will listen and help. If you are having them while working then just try and think about something you like instead of the disturbing thought. When i went through the fire academy they told us that they can't prepare us for the stuff we are going to see. The best way to deal with anything is to talk about it. Don't keep it bottled up.

If what you have has been diagnosed as OCD, then Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is one of the most effective means of treatment. However, you need to see a psychologist to help you through this. The treatment would usually involve exposure (to the thoughts/obsessions) and response prevention (i.e. training to not engage in hte compulsive behaviour). Along with this, you should get some relaxation training as well since the initial exposures can be anxiety-provoking. Hope this helps! And good luck...but do see a psychologist!

Hi sporty,
Reckognise they are just thoughts. Take a deep breath and reckognise they are just thoughts and what is the worst that can happen? If these thoughts are about hurting yourself or others i would suggest talking with your Doc about them especially if they last longer than 4 days. If you dont have a Doc it is easy to find one in the yellow pages in your city. Thanks for the question sporty. God Bless you
p.s. Prayer has always helped me
