Glucosamine with MSM or Chroninum will help rebuild the joints.
And fat free plain yogurt will help and of course the aspirin (1/2 per day) if you feel it is necessary.

GOOD LUCK

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is hard on the kidneys, as is ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin) and are not recommended. Rimadyl, Deramaxx, Metacam, Zubrin, Previcox are the prescription medications. Aspirin can be given under a vet's supervision. ALL of these should be monitored with regular blood work due to the risk of liver failure and GI ulcers. Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate, MSM and Duralactin are all herbal supplements that are thought to support cartilage formation, and are generally safe, though some dogs experience upset stomach on some of these. Never heard of Nimble, but check the ingredients, it may be a glucosamine-type product. Also being overweight makes arthritis much harder to deal with, if your dog is overweight a diet can do wonders. Good luck!

I have used Rimadyl and it worked great. After one pill he was back to normal. The down side is you give it twice a day and its kinda expensive from your vet. Better deal from petmeds.com I found.

My vet suggested that we give our dog a baby aspirin everyday. It really seemed to help.
