The Bible says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:11-12)

Can anyone define the meaning of that scripture please?

I've been praying for more than 2 months for this certain job that meets my criteria, should I just move on or pray on another job?

Its hard to know the meaning of the Bible and to know whats coming for you. God has planes for everyone and this job may not be the one for you. If it is it will be there for you, But if its not the job then they are missing out on something good. Don't let it get you down there is many more option's out there that fit you. It might be the right job but not in that area. The same job may be open some where else and that the one for you. Take your time and don't rush cause you don't want to regret anything. The next job that comes to you might be the right one and the one you will stick with.I'm not saying don't pray cause to pray always helps. But just stick it out and be patient.

Sometimes we think we know what we want but it's not what God has in store for you. No one can tell you what to do. What does your spirit say? Sometimes God is quiet to test your faith. Sometimes God wants you to hold out and wait for something better. I moved to another state and had a really crappy job. I prayed to God a million times a day asking Him to bless me with another job. I would go on interviews and ask God to touch those people's hearts to give me a job. I even applied for jobs that I was unqualified for just so I could leave my job. And just when I thought that God wasn't hearing me I got the job of my dreams. And I love the job I have now. I feel so blessed to have it. I say continue to pray. Perhaps the Lord is preparing you for something bigger than this job. Pray for GOD's WILL for your life not YOUR WILL. God bless.

Try to read the verse in its full context.

Verse 10... For thus says the LORD, 'When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place.... Verse 14... I will be found by you,' declares the LORD, 'and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,' declares the LORD, 'and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.'

I think it is a little dangerous to extract a promise that God made to the exiled Jews and claim it as applying to us. Yes, the verse reveals a timeless principle about God's faithfulness and his goodness, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the promise was specifically intended to mean we get the job that we pray for.

Trust that God will provide for you. Acknowledge your dependence on Him and pray that he provides a job to you that will bring glory to His name. If doors seem to close in one direction, simply give Him the praise and continue to seek.

GOD has a perfect plan for your life. This plan will unfold as you do your best to trust, yield and obey GOD with all of your heart. It could be that GODs plan for your life does not include this job that you have been praying for. However, if GOD does want you to have this job no man or devil in hell will be able to prevent you from receiving it. Desire GODS will for your life not your own. I will tell you this one thing.... if you are GODS child you will have to utterly die to self to truly come into GODS fullness for your life.
This process is not pleasant but if you trust him (Jer 17:7-8) through it you will have inner peace (Isa 26:3)
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~

Word of God to Jeremiah commands us to obey the prompting of God in our spirit so that we will think, move or act in his being not following quick result but endanger us. so don't just pray for job to come because Proverbs says: delayed desire is bad also. And Jesus said: Seek and you shall find; knock and you be opened ; ask and you receive.

Jason,

there's a criteria for this to be valid for you.

1 - You must subject yourself totally to the will of God and obey His teachings.

You should keep your options open. And not be stuck on a decision you have made. Because it is His will that will be done. Not yours.

Praying will net you nothing -- it is a total waste of time. If you want the job, talk to someone with that employer and see if you can work a deal. If not, move on.

He knows what is best for you. The best thing may be for you not to get that job. You may not understand it now, but you will. Ask Him to place you where He wants you, and continue waiting patiently. In the meantime, He will supply all your needs.

Pray that God would direct you to the job He wants for you. God knows what is best for you. Let Him lead you.
