I will give you one because of the recent record setting 12' of snow in Oswego County in upstate N.Y.
Lake Ontario which is directly North of Oswego County in fact it touches the city of Oswego N.Y. . So recently when that extreme cold air came down from the north (Canada) it swept across Lake Ontario -WHICH WAS NOT FROZEN AT THE TIME. What happened was the cold air picked up that latent water and when it hit the cold ground in Oswego Co. it then dumped that water in the form of Snow by the foot. 10 to 12 feet for about a week.
So where you live in relation to water influences what happens to your climate.
