I always thought that yellow and orange are good together - it makes me think of the sun setting at night! Or red is good too! If it is a very pale yellow then pale greens or blues or pink would be good also.

Purple or green. Use paint chips from the same brand as your yellow paint, because every brand uses the same base for all of their colors.

If it's for the wall,(living room, kitchen, study)I'd say white, alfafa green, apple green and baby blue.Do check on the colour chart for different shades and intensity of blues and greens. They compliment yellow better than red, oranges, purples.Unless you're fond of gaudy colours or doing up the kids play room,or just painting boxes or untreated wood stuffs.
Pinks and lilacs are only good if you're doing up the little girl's room.Orcher and a lighter shade of browns are great for the veranda, patio, balconies or work area (tool shed).
All the best! :)

Red, blue, or green. Depending on the shade and intensity. For example from the red family or colours you could use the colour Burgundy, from the blue family of colours you could use royal blue, and from the green family of colours you could use forest green. Go to a paint shop and get some samples.

I would go with other shades of Yellow, or even creams to browns depending on if you are living it up or dulling it down.
Keep neutral colors around.
