Does anyone have any advice about frozen shoulder.
I had it in my left shoulder for over a year it,s better now but it,s gone to my right shoulder now the pain is terrible i have had cortisone injection in it but no relief from pain.
Should i excercise it or not? I am age 61.

I also have had frozen shoulder in both shoulders at different times. There are 3 phases to frozen shoulder. 1. the freezing stage, where it starts to hurt and so you tend to use it less 2. the frozen stage where the shoulder has very limited range of motion and hurts like the dickens and 3. the thawing stage, where the pain and lack of mobility begins to get better. This can take anywhere from 1-3 yrs. Some as in my case never got to stage 3 in either shoulder. I tried cortisone shots and physical therapy which helped some but just aggravated the pain. What helped the most was a shoulder manipulation with an invasive technique where they go in and scrape the adhesion's away from the shoulder ball. Then lots of physical therapy. It can be real tricky. The surgery was successful on my right arm but not on my left arm so now I have limited mobility and less pain.

I would get to an orthopedic surgeon who has experience for this. Don't believe everything you read here, believe it when its from personal experience such as mine and mostly from your doctor.

I hope this helps and you get better. Frozen shoulder occurs more in people with diabetes. It is really painful, if you sleep on your side with an extra pillow supporting your shoulder it helps.

Physical Therapists FORCE the muscle rather than relaxing it,
Shots of cortisone MASK the problem
Yoga MAY help
DO NOT do exercise like weight lifting.

The cause is the muscles are TOO TIGHT because they have knots in the fibers called trigger points. The professional that will help you most is a massage therapist. You will want your back, shoulders, and neck worked on and it will take more than one visit.
Some chiropractors know what to do like using ultrasound to help shrink the swelling and decrease the pain but that is only part of it.
Molasses (a couple of swigs) or bananas will give you the magnesium and potassium that is the single most helpful thing (water helps everything).

You need to get some Physical therapy on that shoulder so it doesn't freeze up. If you had therapy for the other shoulder then just do those exercises otherwise have your doc refer you to PT.

Go to your drugstore and ask for a product containing Methylsulfonylmethane (or MSM). It is completely natural and works wonders. It is sulphur. To read more about it, visit

I suppose any brand would do, as long as it contains the MSM / sulphur.
I have even used it on my 11 year old dog who could no longer walk or lift her head. Today she rolls around on the lawn!

Go to APTA.org, click on "find a PT", and search your home area.
