God is good, so what defines good?

Does God love the good or does God's love make it good?
One is saying there is a already a existing good, and God loves the existing good, and the other is saying if God loves something then it becomes good. Such as if God loved killing babies then killing babies would be good. If there was a pre existing good then there is a set of laws that even God has to follow to determine what is good. So does God love the good or does Gods love make it good?

Jesus said that only God is good. From this we can deduce that goodness is being like God. Since God says that he hates murder, baby killing is unlike God, and so evil.

God loves the good because at some point he has to let go and we take on the responsibility of deciding who we are and what we are going to be, God loves us all but there is a point where he must let go and let free will fall into place. Another thing is that which is morally wrong is always wrong, like killing babies And unless it is the antichrist killing it them will not solve anything or nothing good from it will prosper so god would not unreasonably kill babies. God makes us, then fate steps in, and he loves what we become.

God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is the only Good there is. Anything else created that has any good to it, is derived from God himself.

Whatever good I may do is only because of grace given by the Holy Spirit to do it. There is nothing good about me, or any created thing. As Abraham told Issac, God himself will provide the sacrifice (the created good)

I would also have to guess that when using killing babies in your arguement, you forgot the 10 Commandments. God also tells us in the Old Testament that a time will come when His law will be written on our hearts when He establishes the new covenant. We know right from wrong instinctively now because God has put that knowledge in us when we were conceived.

For the first question, what defines good is what God would do because it is His nature. How do you know what's good? Check with Him. There is the Bible and you can talk with Him.

For the second that's a bit more complicated, how about this? God's love reaches out to make good. Those who respond to it get better.
