I'm looking to buy a Ford Mustang. My question is which model should I get? I don't want the newer ones. I don't want the older ones. I want in the 1999-2003 range. What is your opinion on which is the best? I really like 2002.

if your looking for a v6, don't get the 3.8, it's junk! move up to the 2005 with the 4.0 sohc, this engine has as much power as the older 5.0's!

jp8 all mustangs are great cars just keep it in good shape it will always hold good resale value if its kept clean. I like 87-95 models the 87-89's are non air bag non abs and the 94-95 are the last of the 5.0's. Personally I have an 89 LX 5.0 5 speed and a 94 GT 5.0 5 speed. Wouldnt trade either. both have never let me down yet.. As a matter of fact none of the mustangs I have owned have ever broken down. 67 , 72, 77, 79 pace car, 3- 89's, a 94 and a 95 .

Mustangs are kinda junky in my opinion, but you can get them cheap. So if you actially like them, go for it. Remember the platform was used for 30 years, so the latest models (pre-redesign) are the most reliable. I'd still recommend a GTI... But here's the best advice you can get:

Get the newest one you can with the least amount of miles

Don't get a convertible

Don't get an anemic V6 no matter what you think about the car.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM A MALE -- he will have run the thing hard and put it in wet.

Don't get a white one

Shoot for a SVT or GT

good luck.

Either a 03-04 Cobra or 03-04 Mach1.
As for a regular Mustang or GT, they look the same from 99-04.

Well;I bought a 94GT.One owner and its a convertible. Not like some other people that advises not to get one. It's been modified BUT I still dont run it hard. You can get them cheap but they last longer than most of the GM cars.I've driven most every brand & Mustang has never left me on side of the road.Dont care for later models with 4.6 engines.I'm not putting them down but from what some of my friends are telling me the cost of servicing them is really high.Replacement parts I mean. You buy what you will be happy with.If you're not a hot rodder a 4.6 will be perfect for you.

I have a 1999 Mustang Gt Convertible, with the V8 and an automatic transmission. Triple Black. I've had it for a few years and I have had no major problems with it, so I'd highly recommend the1999 to 2004 era.

No matter what year you go with, stick with a GT model minimum. The V6s are crap. If you can afford a Cobra, then go for it if you can find one out there.

Granted, I'm basing this on performance mainly. The resale of the GT, and to a greater extent Cobra, is much better than the V6 models as well.

My 2003 Cobra is white and the reason i bought it new that way is that it blends in and you do not attract attention to yourself if you are going to be racing around. White is a great color. I would go with an SVT Cobra or GT the other models are not any fun. The older ones are death traps.

You'll just have to keep looking on eBay. Dark green 1967 Mustangs don't come up on eBay every day. It may take you a year or more to find one and buy it. How badly do you want it?

I recently got an 02 mustang and I love it. The only problem I have is the gas tank is small. Therefore I stop and get gas a lot.
