I'm in the process of fixing my bad credit to buy a house for the first time, but I'm also engaged and my husband to be currently has bad credit. I'm trying to get the house only under my name.
Is it true if I get marry I'm also getting his debt or negative accounts?

Well, yes, sort of. But, you can still get a house in your name through a no-doc loan. Then, the mortgage companies will only look at your credit and income...not your husband's bad credit. Through this type of loan, you can still put your husband's name on the title. Here is a good site to research loan information. http://loan.divinfo.com/ They might also have articles about your situation. Congrats!

I don't think you are required to merge your credit files once you get married. Many people do, but I don't think that is a requirement. You'll probably want to ask somebody with a little more knowledge in this area than me, though, to be sure.

No, your credit is yours...and like wise for your future husband. When my wife and I start home hunting my credit was very bad. But with hard work and knowledge we were able to pay down and raise up my score to purchase our home.

Only if you try to get a loan together. They will take both credit reports into consideration.
