how can i get a genuine product key code for my windows xp with out purchasing the $100 software. i bought my computer from a guy who had an ad in the pennysaver and he installed windows xp. well according to windows validation check when i try to install updates, its not genuine, therefore i can't download any updates. i really can't afford to buy the software for $100, since currently i have no job...any other alternatives?

Sorry buddy, your going to have to buy a copy. Looks like the guy you bought it from conned you into thinking it was genuine. Wish I could help but I can't.

Try to find the guy who scammed you and hit him over the head with the computer. If he ran one ad in the pennysaver, he'll run others. Did you buy the computer "as is?" If you did, you're stuck. Did any kind of warranty come with it?

I'm sorry. The only way to get a legitimate product key is to buy the program. The key is usually on a sticker on the plastic case of the CD.

this is a hard one! in case you, a minimum of, had the reciept, you need to've asked MS to offer you a sparkling key code! as this is, i do no longer think of you will get something! you need to call their call center, this relies in India and supply it a try, nonetheless! each and all of the final! Cheers! Sheesh, that Ahmed Tanveer! those key codes would be blocked by potential of now! Yahoo might have pronounced them to MS already!

If you contact Microsoft and provide them the details of where you bought the PC, they should have a way to get a valid copy. The catch is that you have to provide a shop or a person who provided you the pirated copy.
