coconut oil is more than 50% lauric acid and helps to strengthen your immune system. The only thing richer in lauric acid is that of breast milk. coconut oil doesn't contain cholesterol and doesn't promote heart disease. studies have found it also destroys harmful viruses & bacteria and even promotes weight loss. It has been labeled the healthiest oil on the planet. My mother is from the philippines and she has been using coconut oil all of her life. even into her 80s she has beautiful skin and thick healthy hair. when I was growing up, we used it as a natural moisturizer for the body and hair, and it has excellent antioxidant properties. Some people use it as a sun blocker, instead of the popular lotions on the market. It's fabulous for cooking and everyone should try it.

I'm glad to say, now the truth about this wonderful oil is out there and people are taking advantage of it's excellent health benefits.

I read about it in "Body by God" (I forget the author) and another natural cure book I read (the guy is on an infomercial). I have used it (get it at WalMart, cheap) to fry food in and it tasted good (if oil can taste good...). From what I've read, it helps keep your digestive track moving and is a healthier type of oil because of its chemical makeup, plus it's natural (not like Pam or Crisco, etc.). I don't know anything about using it on your skin, but I would think it would be great to use. I like the quote "don't put anything on your skin that you wouldn't put in your mouth." Your skin absorbs lotions into your bloodstream.

BOTH. I eat it & put it on my skin.
Genetically, I am prone to stretch marks. All the women I my family has them - as do I from childhood growth. However, when I was pregnant I put it on my skin daily & ate 3 tablespoons a day. No stretch marks!!! I still eat it daily on my toast and slather it on as my after shower treatment. It is wonderful!

It helps lose weight because the body doesn't store it as fat cells, it burns it right away.

Also it works as an antioxident and is a source of Vitamin E.
