Im afraid to go becuase its like What if they dont find something wrong and its all in my head whereas they could find something thats wrong that they could easily fix with therapy and meds?? First, Take a deep breath.

You are over stressed and this is why the Dr. referred you.

What to expect...

When you visit the Mental Health Department remember you are not the only one out there with a problem.

They are not going to put you on anything that you do not need.

They are in a Medical Profession they want to help you. They are going to talk and have you discuss issues in your life.

Good Luck, This is chance to help you communicate and share your feelings!

I think that I would rather know exactly what problem I'm dealing with. That way, you can target the specific areas that need to be addressed. If you're bipolar, your doctors can focus on that, and you won't waste time trying to treat an issue you don't have. Think about it this way: every day that you spend in the dark, not knowing what treatment you need, or what health issues you have, is another day that you keep yourself from living your life to the fullest and in the best possible way. Good luck to you,and I hope everything works out for you.

Well I think ultimately it is up to you as to what you think but maybe going and seeing what they have to say would put your mind at ease. If there is something wrong it would be good to go and at least get information about the problem, and if there is nothing wrong then you can start thinking about how to deal with that. If I were in your position I think I would go just to see what they said so I could start to find a solution to whatever the problem, whether it be large or small. Hope all ends up well.

I know exactly how you feel! I always feel that way when I go to any doctor! However, your doctor wouldn't have referred you if he or she didn't think you needed a more accurate assessment.

The bottom line is that you should go because you need to get a thorough and accurate diagnosis so that your doctors can treat you properly. They need to know *exactly* which illnesses/disorders you may have so that they can treat them. The treatments for depression with anxiety is different than the treatment for bipolar disorder. Treating wrong problem won't help you at all!

Good luck. I know how you feel (trust me!!) but you need to go and be honest with them and with yourself. That way you can get the best treatment and best results!

You are thinking what all of us would think when and if we had to go see someone about depression. I am bipolar and it is easily managed. I put off going for help for years and years, so I was really miserable. Then I went to a shrink who evaluated me and put me on meds and I have been great since then. That was fifteen plus years ago and I have been stable ever since. So no matter what is going on with you it will be ok and you will soon feel better.

Dont worry so much, and it sounds like to me that you have some anxiety/panic,which can give you irrational thoughts that just keep escalating(I had suffered with panic attacks for a few years)some are small and some can have you thinking your going crazy, but dont worry it can be put under control, and dont let these thoughts get the best of you because that will just make matters worse. I learned to deal with mine and talking myself out of those crazy thoughts. Just relax and go get the assessment, they will help you with what your going through.
Good Luck to you:)

The best thing to do is go and get evaluated, even if it is all in your head there are medications and therapies that can work, sometimes all you need is an outlet for your emotions, like talking to a therapist. good luck!

they want to give me depression pills but i don't want that. i just want help in a natural way.

i wouldn't think about it much just try to tell them everything you are going through just the truth and they'll tell you what you need. just remember that and everything will be okay ;) good luck too.
