I am trying to lose weight, about 20 lbs. Is fasting with water for a week a bad idea? Is there a safer fasting method, if so what is it?

Liquid diet but be careful you might become an anorexic & end up at the hospital. Try the after six pm diet. You can eat your usual well balanced diet until 6pm & return your meal at brunch. Good luck. (- -,)

Yes remember people have died from drinking too much water. A california radio station got charged for causing the death of a girl trying to win a Wii. 20lbs in a week can cause serious harm to your body.

Use steady (and slow) weight loss. The best loss comes from changes to your lifestyle such as eliminating sugars, fried fats, eating more veggies and drinking plenty (not overdoing it) of water as well as exercise. Sudden weight loss is usually followed by sudden weight gain. This is bad for your liver and other organs.

Don't forget stimulants and other drugs used to induce weight loss have been shown to cause harm. Don't get obsessed with losing weight because it can rule your life. Be happy. Be happy. Be happy.

If you mean you're using strictly pure water and not eating, then yes, that is a VERY BAD IDEA. Your body needs vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, sugars, sodium...and plus, drinking that much water will add a lot of water weight, as your body is mostly made of it. I don't care how badly you want to lose weight, this is NOT a good method. You'll be more unhealthy after losing weight than you will be before doing that. Don't just try replacing your water with juice, either. Haven't you ever heard that all-liquid diets are bad?

Please...don't do that to yourself! Extremely unhealthy!!

Yes, there's a much safer and better method. The cleanse suggested is one I know people have done, but they gain the weight right back. Also, again, your body is not getting the nutrition it needs.

Since you asked, please go to http://www.gocleanse.com/tparbs . You can see the ABC news footage about it there, too. I do a nutritional cleansing system that is the world's best cleanse. It's also the safest, and in just my first 9 days I lost 14 lbs and 10 1/2 inches. Look at my pic...that's less then 5 months. NO exercise, either.

Any questions feel free to IM me. :D

Best of luck to you!

Terri

Go to the Master Cleanse website, there are several, its a 10 day cleanse consisting of water, maple syrup and lemons, Beyonce just did one before she started "Dreamgirls". I am starting mine Saturday, but read up on it, a couple of different books are out there and the recipe is also on one of the websites. The maple syrup has a lot of nutrients and the rest you get from the lemons or limes. But you need to read the whole thing on the websites, regarding starting eating again after the cleanse, just veggie broth for a couple of days, your system will be cleaned of toxins and you lose weight and it is healthier than just water.

Yes, you would lose weight.

And muscle mass, and cause all kinds of entertaining
nutritional imbalances.

You should NEVER try to lose that much weight that
quickly. If losing the weight was more important than
your health, why not lop off a leg? That should be
about the right weight...

Dont ever do that, your body still needs the required nutrients that water cannot supply. I reccommend at taking a look at this product. You drink and eat nothing but what is given to you for five days. At the end you will no longer have cravings for bad food and will want healthy food more. You will lose weight in these five days and best of all you will keep it off because you will no longer have the cravings. http://www.dustyspiller.usana.com/_redirect/index.cfm?dirname=dustyspiller&distID=3162314&hmpg=index_en.cfm&cntrycode=ca&lcode=EN&link=http://products.usana.com/en/products/us/macros/reset/index.shtml

You wouldn't die of water poisoning, and you would lose weight, but you might die from a reaction to lack of food. The body needs the nutrients and energy that food gives you, and some people can die after a week of no food. The LOWEST amount of calories that one should take in a day (except in a brief fast period) is 1200 in order to take weight off safely.
