When I was command advanced to E-5, I started getting paid for that paygrade the day the CO told me I was a second class petty officer. At the time we were fighting a north Pacific storm submerged in 400' of water but I was happy nonetheless.

depending on the branch anywhere from a month to 6. Usually 1 to 2 months and if not then you should go to your S1 and fill out a pay inquiry as to where your money is.

It may vary from station to station and could take a few weeks even. However, you will get back pay (and make sure you double check on it) from your date of rank.
