The world rejected and is rejecting His Kingdom. But in His Mercy, He allows us to live in His Loving Presence anyway, if we accept Him as Lord and Savior. As long as we strive for the goal of perfection in His Eyes, His Kingdom is indeed within us!
It is no contradiction. WE are not divine. We CARRY God's Divinity within earthen vessels.

Interestingly, Jesus made this statement to the Pharisees (see Luke 17:20,21) The actual translation of the preposition here is somewhat uncertain. I am inclined to believe it is best translated "in the midst of", or "among" you, mainly because of whom He was speaking to. That doesn't negate what you are saying though, because what I believe He meant was He, Himself, was the Kingdom of God, for where the King is in authority, there is the Kingdom. In Colossian 1:27 Paul says: "To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory."
What is interesting in the Greek is that because "you " is in the plural, an equally valid translation of this phrase would be "Christ among you", the hope of glory. I think actually both are true.
Paul says "If any one does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him." (Romans 8:9)
Jesus said: "Where two or three are gathered together in My name (literally "Into My name"), there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:19)
So if we are believers, Jesus Christ dwells both in us, and among, or in the midst of us.
I for one am glad this isn't just a doctrine, but something I can actually feel and experience as a reality when I get together with fellow believers. The Kingdom is NOW.

If you'd just stop thinking of yourself in physical terms you will know what Jesus is saying.
The kingdom of god is spiritual. Your spirit and God's spirit. When they are in accord will be in accordance to God's will.
What is the kingdom??? It is the place where the will of God rules supreme.
Does God's will rule supreme in your life? If it does, you are living right in the kingdom of God even though your human body may make you think otherwise. But once your physical body passes away, you will know that there is no boundary between a person of God and God Himself.

Jesus said this because the kingdom of God is not a physical glorious place, land, or nation. God's people are His kingdom as He reigns in all his believers and as His spirit abides in us after conversion.

Jesus was not referring to the human race.
He was referring to those who keep his commandments.
The Kingdom of God is knowledge of the Holy Spirit of God.

If we have accepted Jesus in our heart then we will have all eternity to live with God in His kingdom. Yes He loved us enough to die on the cross so that we can go to heaven.

The book of Romans tells us that the kingdom of God is righteousness and joy and peace in the holy spirit. That is what you have in your life when you have made God king of your life.

Because he was speaking the truth. Don't look for God outside of Self, as in the God you will find in religion or in idolatry, he simply stated that you will find the truth of your being within. Go inside, not outside to find the truth.
