I have a question about my car stereo system.?
I just installed a system in my oldschool and for about 3 days my system worked fine. But the other day my subs will cut off when I turn my volume up pass 20. I have already busted 4 fuses in my amp and checked my head unit and it seems fine and all my wiring is perfect. I was told it could be my battery, but I dont have trouble with my amp cutting off its just that my subs will not play after a certain volume. I also know its not my battery because I had this car for a while and the battery is only 2 years old. I need help figuring it out. I was also told that my ground may be bad. I checked that but its not that either.

I have a 400 watt 2 ohm amp pushing a 2 12 inch subs that are MTX with a 1350 max watt. I had this same system in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I put this system in my 1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham about 1 week ago. For about 3 days my system would play just fine. But for some reason when I turn up my volume on my Jensen In Dash dvd player. My amp will stay on but my subs will no longer hit. When I turn the volume down, the subs will come back on and hit. I had this same system in my Jeep and I had no problems. I have 4 guage wires for the battery and gnd wire hook up. Like I said it worked for 3 days just fine. My amp will stay on but the subs will not hit for nothing. My gnd is hooked up to the trunk of my car and its touching bare metal. Also my lights do not flicker or did not flicker when it was working fine. My alternator my be the problem but my car is getting the proper charge. Also it started the day I jump started someones car. Could it be my batt. It is not bridged

it sounds like the amp is going into protection mode. when this happens it means that either the amp is blown or the subs are blown.you can check your subs by ohming them out.if they ohm out to the ohm's that on the speaker then they are fine.I had this very same problem before and it turned out to be the subs., they were blown.Your battery would not cause this problem, and you alternator is good because your still able to start the car up(no dead battery).if you are running a 400 watt amp and using subs that take 1350 watts then there's your problem. the subs are to larger for the amp and yes this will cause the speakers to blow. its called under powering the subs. all subwoofers have a min. power level they need in order to work right. if they are under powered they will burn up. Test your subs with a OHM meter. in some rare cases the OHM meter will lie to you, so when in doubt change the subs..... if you need more help let me know and ill do my best.

you probuly need a new alternator its not letting you put out the amps you need to or you are running to small of power or spearker wire and you amp is going into protection mode
if your running bigger than 8 awg then try putting like a one step bigger fuse in your amp like if your running 15 try 20 and also is your amp two ohm stabel if not there is your problem make it runn on 4 ohms then hook it back up

Ok dude, if you're blowing that many fuses you need to hit the books before you install ****. Also are your gains up all the way? If they are your amp might be clipping (trying to get more power from the amp then it can pull out) wich will wreck ur **** and waste all your hard spent money. If the amp is going into protect (the red light lights up) you're already fuked in ur ***** anus. Take it to a shop niqqa.
