you'll get used to them - since you just got them, your mouth is doesn't jive well with the movement they are causing, but that goes away. just take some pain medication in the meantime, and relax - if you don't relax you'll probably end up grinding your teeth, and that's not gonna help at all. - you could also ice the side of your mouth

whatever you do, DON'T take your springs off! doing so could really affect your treatment course. try rinsing with warm salt water and take some motrin. chewing on things such as ice chips wont do anything but break your brackets. and thats just gonna cause you more grief. rinsing with listerine can help numb things a little, but it doesn't work well in conjunction with the salt water. you just gotta tough it out for a day or two, then it will get better. just keep reminding yourself how pretty your teeth will be when you are finished!

my buddies have braces and that they do no longer seem to be that noticable. unsure in case you have ever had an expander yet they positioned the "forsus springs" an analogous way they positioned an expander in. its like a hoop around your the the teeth. they're going to have you ever chew down on a particular gadget and it will unquestionably slide onto your the the teeth. it didnt harm for me in any respect. :) i think it basically relies upon on how a lot soreness you could cope with if it is going to or no longer. hint..* they flow up into your gums, sorrounding your the the teeth. i'm getting braces next week. relaxing relaxing stuff XD sturdy luck! wish i helped

There is this ortho-gel thing you can get at a store like Walgreens that is supposed to help ease the pain. But whatever you do, no matter how much you want to, don't take off the springy thing. If your orthodontist says it will help, it will help. You didn't pay him for nothing. ^^

you shouldn't take them off if you want your teeth to be perfect. The dentist doesn't just put things in there for no reason. When I had braces I found advil really helpful- and chewing on things.
Just think of a youngster when their teething, they like to chew on things- it actually works.
In a few days you'll proabably get used to them just like getting your wires changed. It's something you have to tough out.

No, don't take them off. YOu will just have to go in again and get them put back on. I am 15 and have had braces for the past 3 years. Leave them on and deal with it. Take some Advil, Motrin, Tylenol, Aleve, Excedrin, something. You're gonna have to deal with it.

Advil or Tylenol will help. I had them (a lo-o-o-o-o-ong time ago), and my ortho actually gave me a prescription for Advil (it wasn't available over the counter then). They hurt at first, but in a couple of days you'll get used to them and they won't hurt so much.
Braces suck, but the results at the end are totally worth it.
