He must have forgotten that America spends more on its military than all other nations COMBINED.

It's very funny indeed. The U.S. military budget was $650 billion (2006 figures). China's military budget was $35 billion (2006 figures). Even if China increases their military budget ten-fold (which is very unlikely), it will only become one-half of the U.S. military budget. So, what is making Cheney so nervous and paranoid about this?.

I guess that Cheney's pride was pissed off by China's ever growing economic success. Maybe he find it hard to accept that some Chinese businessmen can make a lot more money than he does.

With the words coming out of Cheney's lips, I don't know whether he is a politician or a comedian.

It is true that America spends much more than any other nation on its military. And it is also true that Cheney is a son of a ***** who can't be trusted with a puppy but he is just doing his job in this incident.

Every governement protests a military build-up of a neighbor, Its hypocritical but it is the job and Cheney is not afraid of being called a hypocrite.

you already realize it quite is humorous, yet enable's back up slightly. I keep in mind as quickly as I first heard on the subject of the alternative the IOC made to make China homestead to the 2008 Olympics. It replaced into tremendously lots alongside the strains of "What?" How could a rustic with deplorable human rights (or lack thereof) be presented one in each and every of those prestigious honour. do not tell me it replaced into politically inspired, recognizing China as an fairly severe and actual superpower. quickly forward to the torch relay, and the Tibet subject. Does this not upload gasoline to the fireplace? It replaced into undesirable adequate China even have been given the Olympics over Toronto and now the proverbial s**t has hit the fan. could there be a boycott? No. The athletes should be on the Olympics no remember the place they are. to that end the bulls-eye is squarely on the chinese language government and their Communist rule. So subsequently the international leaders could boycott the opening ceremonies, extraordinarily people who're component to the G7 international locations. shame on the IOC for giving the Olympics to China. that throughout itself replaced into probable the seed that began the tough start up the video games. The Tibet protests are in simple terms fanning the fireplace. it quite is totally unlucky that the protests are starting to be out of hand. There are different how you are able to voice a passionate protest, so pass away the torch runners on my own. it quite is a honour to hold the torch and to be mobbed in of undertaking of a life-time, shame on the "fanatical" protestors. It quite does not help the reason, and those in China as all of us understand could under no circumstances see it besides. I purely wish that the chinese language government will open their eyes and see that the great international is seeing what is going on and till there is peace will proceed to sympathize with the Tibetians. it quite is unhappy that there is a lot unrest in the East and yet such somewhat some honestly everyone seems to be affected international huge.

Not ALL other countries, but the next seven countries, combined.

It's logical to decry any arms buildup by China, though I hadn't heard specifically about Cheney's remarks. Perhaps one of the only points on which I can agree with Cheney. Then again, it depends whether he's planning to invade or not.

I'd definately protest it, especially if they do more dumb tests like their satellite missile. We're getting close to the point when space debris is a major issue to all space travel, security, communications, etc. The satellite missile test added thousands more small chunks to float around and crash into things.
Not to mention if China eventually decides to invade Taiwan, the US will be the first to respond, and why would the US want to deal with a larger military.
