I say more power to him.
From reading the article, the principle was out of line to single out a child because his costume was Christian based. If they want to enforce a no religious promoting costumes policy, that would mean no witches, devils, demons, fairies, angels, etc. It's Halloween. Let the kids dress how they want as long as they're not promoting drugs or dangerous (IE, real weapons as part of the costume).
Especially since the school is set up to punish those that don't participate by sending them to the equivalent of detention while the rest of the kids have a party.

it just gets stupider and stupider.
Do you realize the trouble it could have caused? Not everyone is Christian so kids could be going home to complain to their parents, or the parents could have complained because it was inappropriate and it could have started fights about which religion was better. If not during the party then at other times.
Do Christians not think this stuff through a bit? There is a place where its appropriate to do that (like church) and places where it isn't.
Witches, goblins, etc, don't mean anything. The things you see for Halloween are all pretend and they mean nothing.
Jesus is the main symbol of the Christian faith. That costume isn't "just another costume" and has the potential to cause some very serious conflicts and issues over a long period of time.
The school was justified in what they did and I hope the kid loses.

witches and devil costumes have no religious meaning. the witches are not accurate. and the devils are simply the embodiment of scary these days.
i would support the child's decision to wear the jesus costume, but for one thing. HE WAS DOING IT AS A PROTEST against the holiday of Halloween. the article makes this clear.
him and his mother are hippocrites. they object to the Pagan nature of the holiday. but still wish to participate in it. they were doing it to cause problems from the start. and that is clear.
these people are just looking for a reason to whine and cry about something, Anything. the school has a Policy against religious derss. my kid could not have gone as Lugh or Cerunuuos and i am sure that if anyone in a so called devil costume had written SATAN on his forehead he would have been booted also.
the idea of the parade and the costume party was to have fun. and this fanatic mother had to ruin it for everybody because she hsd tu use her child to make a statement. i bet that the child dose not even understand why he is going to court.
this is sad. really fu****g sad.

I think that the people at the school are nuts!!!
Let the kid dress up however he wants.
(Oh and by the way I'm both liberal (for the most part) and a non-believer.)

He should win. I am an atheist, I think kids should be able to portray any mythological character they choose.
