Well this all depends on a lot of different factors; how much you've smoked, how much you're around other people who smoke, how much you weigh and various other things. Typically drug tests don't cover tobacco unless they're specifically checking for that, things like marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs in the general arena are all included in one test. But to answer your question if you've smoked one cigarette about two to three days, if you're a regular smoker about two weeks. You can drink vinegar, red is the best and cranberry juice, it makes your urine too acidic to test but that can be tested for too. Or you can buy stuff from a smoke shop or nutrition store, they have things that temporarily clean your system. Or you can get some pee from a friend who doesn't smoke and use that. If it's a blood test or a hair test you can't get away with a thing.
-Life is just much easier if you don't smoke when you're being pee tested, that way you don't have to get scared.

I believe it takes about 72 hours - but I don't think drug tests look for tobacco!

I don't know what kind of a drug test you are taking, but most likely it won't test for tobacco.

It depends on how much you smoke or chew. It would normally take about two weeks of no tobacco use for nicotine to be undetectable in your urine or blood stream. But, there are herbal treatments that purportedly "cleanse" your body of nicotine in 3 days. http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv8-tyc7&p=nicotine%20cleansing Don't know that I would trust those.
OTOH, if you can stop for two weeks... why not just make it permanent?
