The only way to find out for sure would be to take the cat to the vet for an ultrasound . When the cat is almost full term you can feel the individual kittens by palpating her abdomen but it is easy to mis-count. Only an ultrasound gives a fairly accurate number.

X-ray after 45 days of pregnancy is the best way, fetal bones have formed then and you can count the skulls. Usually they have 3 to 5 kittens, but they can have 7 or more on occasion.

I've had several house cats...usually for every time a cat mates before she gives birth determines how many kittens she will have with that litter.

usually the first year they have about 3 or 4 and any time after that its between 4-7. and after about 12 weeks you can feel her belly and feel how much kittens are there.

Xray is the only way to be definite, ultrasound is hard to distinguish at times, so is Xray, but a lot more accurate.

You won't know unless you want to spend the money on an ultra sound.
Sometimes one, which is not usual, three to six, so prepare.
