What if I believe homosexuality is wrong..or right ? Or abortion is killing children ...or discarding tissue ? Don't you think boundaries have to be universal to all ? And who sets these boundaries ? You ?

No..boundaries do not have to be universal if they do not hurt others..

For instance, I choose not to drink, but if your drinking doesn't affect me, then that is fine with me.

For the most part, I live by my own morals. My morals coincide with our society's laws (for the most part), although our society's laws are not the reason I have these morals....

My morals may not be your morals. I have no problem with homosexuality, but if you do--then that is your choice. I hope you aren't gay, though, because you would be majorly conflicted.

If someone runs naked down a street shooting everybody in sight, gets stopped by the police, and tells the police his/her morals say doing this sort of thing is OK, should the police just say "sorry we stopped you, go ahead??" Who says a person is to wear clothing? Who says killing innocent people is wrong? If two teams are playing a game, why should they have to play by the same rules? Yes, rules should be universal !! If something is wrong, how can it be considered right at the same time? If it's permitted in country Xyzabc to have sex with kids 12 and under, should it be approved everywhere? Some rules and laws differ from place to place but MORALS should be consistent. There is such a thing as the 10 commandments. It might be a good idea to follow them. Maybe "Do unto others as you would have them do unto yourself" is a good place to start.

I wish you'd taken sociology at some point, because it's not exactly easy to explain societal mores in a Q & A forum.

Take a college course if you don't understand how the members of our society are able to function, independently and together, without killing each other.

Morals don't keep you in check, that is your responsibility. Morals draw a line between right and wrong. You will never change moral codes, but they may change you.

No. You're confusing judging others by your beliefs with having morals. Morals are knowing right from wrong. Knowing right from wrong comes from within. It isn't taught in a book.

moral: 1. of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical: moral attitudes.

My parents set the boundaries, and I explored them. Now I have my own morals and am passing them on to my son who will probably tune them a bit to fit his own life.

I think morals is based mainly on your own conscience and nots society.

Keep your mind and live your own morals. I have mine too, they have theirs and thats why we have wars, kinnings and all the mess in the world since the history of mankind.

Maybe you should read up a little on this thing called history. Who gave the Asians their morals? Christ? And how morally acceptable an act is it to flood the entire fvcking Earth?

What's wrong with God's morals?

you could never get me to believe that defying God's laws has ever done good. how did aids jump species? broken law. is a good relationship built on mistrust? don't think so. God's laws are universal.

do you find flaw in these? or do you believe that's wrong also...

Actually, it is me. And it's everyone else too. Morals are not universal, and morals can conflict. We invent them.
