limewire itself does NOT cause viruses.
it's the stuff that you DOWNLOAD that causes viruses.
so be careful of what you are downloading.

Limewire can cause viruses only if you download a malicious file. The best way to avoid it is change from limewire to another program. The reason being Limewire are currentley stuck in a legal battlewith the RIAA and the G1 network is also at this point full of more spam and malicious content than ever.

Limewire doesn't some files downloaded through Limewire do.
Prevent this by knowing what you download. An mp3 is not 174kb in size but a virus could be. A dvd movie is not 20mb but again a virus could be.
Any thing (especially .exe files) should be scanned with your Anti-virus before opening Right-click on the file scroll down to
"scan with (your anti-virus)"

Yes some files may have viruses in them. Make sure you pay attention to the file size BEFORE you download....if all else fails, look up the file online and see how big it's suppose to be. If the size looks correct go ahead and download it, and use your anti-virus program (norton, avast. etc..) to scan the file....scan it a couple times, if it comes up clean then you SHOULD be good, but there are never any guarantees...

it doesnt cause viruses but many programs on there have them so to prevent it dont downlaod or what I do after you download anything scan it with some sort of virus program before you open it
