White rice isnt healthty for you, but I wouldnt call it unhealthy either
"perfect" white rice has been processed, bleached, polished and the healthy benefits have been removed. Brown rice is the healthier option to use, sushi rice is the "white rice" option that is better for you than the processed rice. As far as the tuna salad is concerned, you have to look at the ingrediants. Does it call for mayo and processed tuna, or does the recipe call for fresh tuna and light oil? These would determine if one is healthier than the other.

Is Chinese White Rice Healthy

White rice is fine, use it at will. To the food propagandists "Healthy Food " is an allegorical argument that goes beyond food molecules and involves things like life style choices and conspiracies between big government and big agribusiness
So brown rice is higher in fiber . Fiber is good for you because it helps your bowels move better and good moving bowels are happy bowels. We all want to keep our bowels happy don't we ?
What else is fiber/ bran ? Bran is made of cellulose aka wood and unless you're a termite your body can't digest it.
Why is brown rice lower in carbs than white rice ? Because your body can't digest the cellulose covering of the rice grain and get access to the starch AND nutrients that lie within.
If memory serves , many that did the Bataan Death March in WWII died of malnutrition as a result of a steady diet of brown rice.
Something to think about

White rice has been stripped of its outer bran then bleached out. It has very little nutrients. Brown rice is better, has the bran and is a great source of fiber. Trust me, I make awesome chinese stirred fried rice with brown rice and it tastes BETTER than white. The brown rice tastes richer, like it has butter on it but you get that flavor without adding it. This is how I make it. Cook some brown rice according to directions (about 3 cups). Take it from the pot when done cooking and lay it out on two large plates. Rice forms alot of starch which is why it tends to stick together. But I've discovered that if you give it plenty of air and stir it frequently while cooling, the starch dissipates. So every 5 or 10 minutes, stir the rice lightly with a fork until cool. Cut up some veggies like green onion, red and yellow bell peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, chinese snow peas (or pea pods), and water chestnuts. Fry in a wok or large skillet with a few Tbls. of peanut or vegetable oil until tender crispy. Before they are done, add the cooled rice and stir over med. high heat. Add some soy sauce and brown sugar to taste. I like the rice a bit sweet. If you don't, then omit the brown sugar. You will love this dish with brown rice!
Concerning tuna salad, it's about the same in nutrition as the
chinese rice. But whenever you want to make THAT, here's how I do it. I use two large cans of albacore tuna (it's better quality).
Place in a large bowl, along with the following: 3 eggs (chopped),
1/2 an onion (minced), 2/3 cup mayo, 1 Tbls. mustard, 1 small
jar of diced pimentos, 1/2 cup chopped black olives, minced raw celery (two stalks), 1 tsp. regular salt, 1tsp. garlic salt, 1 tsp. sugar, 1 tomato (diced), 1 tsp. poppy seeds and 8 finely chopped dill pickles. I use those small round ones called "hamburger pickles" but you can use one dill spear if you like. Mix all ingredients. If you want it more moist, add more mayo. You can eat this on toast with some lettuce or on multi-grain crackers ( I like wheat thin toasted chips in multi-grain flavor). It's fantastic! Hope this helps!

About white rice, There Is nothing wrong with it.
when I lived in japan for the past 2 years, you see all Japanese eating everything with a bowl of rice with any kind of food (even hamburger meat) They are the most fit skinny body toned people I have ever seen. You can ever rarely see a fat person over there.
So
Eat white rice all Day All night Anytime you want !No worrys, its completely Healthy.

if you have brown rice and sub. it for the white then it would really be healthy. When I make tuna salad I just use ranch dressing. Does this sound weird?

For years, I believed that white rice should be avoided completely. I believed that it had very little nutritional value and that it contributed to constipation.

Over time, I have come to realize that white rice does provide useful nutrients, and that there are situations where white rice can be a better choice than brown rice for your health.

Here are some important points and guidelines on eating white and brown rice:

1. Since white rice is brown rice that has been stripped of some of its nutrients, brown rice is superior in its nutritional content. Specifically, brown rice is an excellent source of niacin (vitamin B3) and magnesium, a good source of thiamin (vitamin B1) and iron and a moderate source of protein, fiber and zinc.

2. White rice has less fiber and vitamins than brown rice, but is an excellent source of niacin and a moderate source of protein, thiamin and iron.

3. If you can eat brown rice without experiencing any abdominal discomfort, bloating, or gas, then it is a better choice for you than white rice because of its greater nutritional density.

4. If you experience abdominal discomfort or bloating after eating brown rice, it is worth your while to try eating white rice. Because of its lower fiber content, white rice is less abrasive to your intestinal lining than brown rice, a helpful feature if you have weak or damaged intestines. Many people who have colitis and/or problems with diarrhea find that they can digest white rice without any discomfort, while brown rice causes pain and gas production.

5. If you choose to eat white rice, be sure to eat it with plenty of cooked vegetables to prevent constipation. Fiber from well cooked vegetables does not typically cause irritation to a weakened or damaged intestinal lining.

6. If you are a diabetic or are at risk of being a diabetic, it is best to stay away from white rice completely because of the stress it puts on your blood sugar-regulating mechanisms.

You want whole grain rice, especially if you're whatching carbs,&/or diabetic,Ieat it but it's best in moderation. Try wild rice, more flavor anyway & would be great for chinese dishes

Whole grain rice is definitely better for you than white rice. White rice has been processed and is higher in carbohydrates.
