i have met some people who have experienced the vision of ghosts or spirits. while most of them are fake stories there are some whom i actually believe to be true. i myself have experienced such events in the past.
now as i have understood the bible never teaches anything about a devil. so to say that these ghostly visions are the work of a literal devil makes nonsanse because according to the bible a literal satan never exists. but i have read a story about how saul consulted the woman at endor and how she brought soloman to life and spoke as he did.
even though there is no such thing as a devil who causes these acts could there actually be something beyond our understanding that we know nothing about?
i like to hear from christians and anyone with comments?

It would help if you had read the actual Bible as opposed to the legends of Solomon. Those are not in the Bible anymore than the legends of Jephthah are or any other legends. If you were to ask about Solomons throne, which you have probably read about, no one would know what you are talking about.

Most likely the story about Solomon never took place. Saul died before Solomon. Saul was the first king of Israel. David the second and Solomon the third.

Solomon is a legendary practicer of what is currently referred to as magic.

To make this simple:

Time does not exist since it is based entirely on entropy. In the spirit world there is no such thing as time. One time is all times and all times is one time. For time to exist there would have to be a breakdown of material. The spiritual never breaks down.

This means that judgment day is now, in the past and in the future.

God can do as he pleases within his understanding of his word to us. That means he can do pretty much anything since people cannot really understand his word without his help.

Your spirit, or the spirit of another can exist in heaven, hell, this world in a body or this world out of a body or where ever else God wants it to be. You only have one life and that life is spiritual. You could even be living a hundred different lives in a hundred different bodies right now.

It is up to God where your spirit is.

Once you have made a choice between heaven and hell there is no need to exist in this world. If you can't make a choice and God does not want to put you into a body....

i am just curious to know what bible you are reading from. The bible i read from mentions the devil a lot. There is a devil...he actually used to be an angel before he got too egotistical.

i have personally seen an "apparition" in my parents' house. i cannot explain what it was, but i saw it i am sure. i don't know if the visions of which you speak would all be caused by the devil. There were instances in the bible where angels appeared to people and sometimes even God appeared in the form of, say, a burning bush.

i love what you say about "something beyond our understanding that we know nothing about." That line alone describes God. While we know that God exists, we really know so little about Him. To come to the realization that we truly do know so little is to find utter humility. A place where we must put every ounce of faith and trust in God. Great question. Best wishes!

The Bible does mention the devil. He is referred to as Satan most of the time.
As far as the ghost thing goes, I am Christian and I believe in ghosts. I don't necessarily think that they are evil beings sent by the devil to do us harm (although some may be). I think most are just lost spirits. They don't realize that they are dead or they have unfinished business left on Earth before they cross over or maybe they are scared to cross over. I believe that people are afraid of them because they don't understand. Even though I believe that they are mostly good, I would still be scared to see one because my mind tells me that it's kind of unnatural.
I know that the Bible doesn't really mention it, and I certainly have never heard a sermon on ghosts at church, I still believe they are there. There have been too many accounts of sightings for them not to be. Have you ever watched Ghost Hunters? They actually have a good perspective on what ghosts are and they explain a lot of hauntings away scientifically. It is a really good show and you can visit their website at:

Partially answering your question--Yes, there are MANY things beyond our comprehension and understanding. That does not mean they do or do not exsist, however. Even though I have not personally 'seen' or 'heard' things, I believe it is quite possible for spirits and ghosts to be with us. Or maybe I have seen and heard things and did not recognize them as ghosts or spirits. I conclude some things to be strange or mysterious, I am not afraid, but neither do I delve too far into the whys and wheres of them. I accept what goes on here on earth to be just that--what goes on here on earth. I believe I will find out on Judgement Day. And if there ARE really sugh things a spirits and ghosts, I hope I come back as one of them to gently guide people in the right direction. And as for the bible, I have not read all the different versions of the bible that there are in this world, but the devil does exsist in one form or another in the bibles that I am familiar with.

the Bible says plenty about the Satan and demons, and ghosts.
and who told you this? Haven't you ever read a Bible?

plz actually read this thoroghly before rating it...

1) a ghost isn't a dead person walking around. a ghost is the part of a human that allows one to communicate with spirits, even with God Himself

2) when you see what looks like a person, you are most likely (in this order) seeing a) an optical illusion b) a halucination c) possibly an OBE d) the result of the occult which appears to be a person, though it's basically a physical manifestation of idolatry (basically, it's a halucination most people can see)

and the witch at endor herself was surprised, simply because even she knew you couldn't bring someone back from the dead. that's all fraud. and we know enough. I have yet to hear of something that doesn't fit into one of these categories.

What Bible did you read. There is a literal and clear Satan or Devil in the Bible. He is the fallen angel Lucifer. The most beautiful angel in Heaven. He had too much pride and wanted to be equal with God and therefore was cast out of Heaven.

He is real.

Please quote the passages about Saul, Endor and bringing solomon to life. I vaguely remember a movie portraying something of that nature, but I don't think it was Biblical. It was fiction. Made up. Hollywood story.

I'm still on the fence myself about ghosts...but I'm not when it comes to Satan and his power to decieve. Obviously he's decieved you into believing he doesn't exist. Wow...that means you can't go to Hell. He doesn't exits...so there is not Hell. That's pretty darn convenient until you die and find yourself there. Too late to find out the truth.

Do some real research and find out what the Bible really says. Stop relying on others to tell you what it says.

I don't believe in ghosts. I do believe in angles and demons. They roam about the Earth for obvious reasons. Do not convince yourself that there is no such thing as the devil. The bible is not meant to glorify the devil but it does mention him. When the devil temps Jesus in the wilderness. If you go to Bible.com and type in devil under keyword, it will give you all of the places where the devil is mentioned in the bible. Matter of fact, here's the link.

Excuse me, but the Bible mentions Satan the Devil quite a bit, were have you been? Job 1:6-9,12,Job 2:1-4,6,7, 1 Peter 5:8 just to name a few. The sorceress at Endor did not bring Saul back to life and it was not Saul's ghost, it was a demon pretending to be Saul, the Bible clearly states that when we die we go into non-existence, our hope of life after death is for a resurrection back to life through Christ Jesus.

No literal devil in the Bible? Then who is the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Who is Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12? Who is the red dragon in Revelations Chapter 12? Who is Satan in the book of Job? Who is Satan in the Gospels, who tempts Jesus in the wilderness?

One of the best strategies your enemy can have, is for you not to even know he exists. If the bible says in 2 Corinthians 11:14
that Satan is able to transform himself into an angel of light, how much more easy would it be to imitate your dead loved ones in a masquerade as ghosts and spirits?

You need to go read the Bible. It does talk about Satan in the literal sense. As far as the witch at Endor, you need to read the whole story on that as well. Jesus was tempted by Satan. He tried to get Jesus to bow down and worship him if he gave Jesus the whole world. Jesus rebuked Satan for trying to get Him to worship Satan. Notice, Jesus did not rebuke Satan's claim to the planet. It is his for the time being. So, go read the Bible and then come back and try asking your question after you know what you are talking about, because right now you don't.
