So..i have bought a 2nd hand PC.
But it wont seem to update..so im thinking its not a legit copy of windows on there!
Since my own PC has always been legit. Im not sure how to go about fixing this problem with the 2nd hand one. I would like to get it updated to a service pack 2 also.

You should be able to download and install windows xp sp2 from the download section of www.microsoft.com rather than windows update.

To find out whether your copy of Windows is legit, download and run the Validation tool that is now required for most Windows Update files. If you are having trouble downloading Service Pack 2, you can order it for free on CD from the Microsoft website, and install it from there.

Buy a legitimate license for it....Microsoft does offer a free Operating System CD if you provide the details on where you obtained the pc with that OS, and they verify that it is illegal... Check their website for details...
