I read that it takes away the pain faster and you get high. I've had all these surgeries and I am 14 years old. My next surgery is in a few months. I had surrgery last month, and the pain is killing me. He gave me morphene, but it wasn't strong eenough. I've been given percriptions for oxycodone on and off for 4 years, (i've had 5 surgeries in 4 years, my first was when I was 11) dso i've built up a tolerence to it. So I took some last night, and I have a doctors appointment coming up soon. How long is it going to take for the oxycodone to work it's way out of my system. All I did was want the pain to stop.

Talk to a pain management doctor, and they can help you better manage your pain. The pain killers aren't always the way to go. I am also 14, and I've had 6 surgeries in the past year and a half, and I also have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which for me is the worst pain in the world, even worse than my surgical pain which I've had spine surgery, knee surgery, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Also a pain management counselor may help you manage your pain. I hope that your pain gets better. I know how you feel!

By all means. Someone asked if the oxycodone was the Extended Release type. They don't MAKE 5 mg ER oxycodone. Give your grandpa 2 pills to ease his pain. Or try 1 1/2 pills. Then try to contact the doctor and tell him the pain meds aren't working anymore. Your grandpa's last days should not be spent in pain. Do what you have to do. Be aware that 10 mg dosing of oxycodone is not uncommon. My husband had an abcessed tooth last week and the dentist prescribed him 10 mg oxycodone for pain.

You and I have a lot in common, I was hit by a drunk teacher, she ran a red light going sixty miles and hour and broke my neck, collar bones, ankles, feet, arm and ribs, I have had five or six surgeries and sort of got used to everything, nothing worked after a while. so I asked the dr. what the cheapest most effective and longest lasting pain medicines are and he talked me into trying methadone, I didnt want to because i thought it was only for herion addicts, but it is a very long acting pain med and I have weaned myself off of everything else, once in a while I will take a vicadin but I really dont like them because they hurt my stomach. If you dont wean yourself down before the surgery, you wont have any releif from the surgery pain, talk to your dr about switching, and ask for some clonidine?? it helps with symptoms of withdrawal, then try a plain old tylenol every other pain pill time. you can get to sleep with ny quil and the methadone works pretty darn well for most of the pains. good luck, dont snort that anymore, it can really trash your membranes and it really doesnt work faster anyway.

again, good luck

Why are you having all of these surgeries? Are you seeing just a surgeon?

You need to see a doctor who specializes in pain management. Ask your parents and/or your surgeon about it. You aren't getting effective pain medicine, you probably need something different. No, you shouldn't snort anything.

Get well soon and good luck.

Oxycodone is too addictive to be playing around with. Rather than increasing the dose and then trying to get high from it, which will lessen the effects of actual pain relief, you should explore other ways to manage pain like refocusing, try dimming the lights, listening to soothing music, acupuncture, reflexology, ect. Then when you want to get a buzz, maybe just going out for a drive on a sunny day will give you that buzz.

If you start snorting the painkiller be prepared to undergo further surgery for the erosion of septum (nose). the bad thing about Oxycontin is you start to imagine your in pain so you keep taking more and more to feel normal.
I wouldn't listen to your friends @ 14 about crushing them and snorting, your problem is you are already high and trying to maintain your buzz. From reading your story.

chick,

I think you need to talk to your doc and tell him/her that you are not getting adequate pain relief. Perhaps you should ask for a referral to see a pain management doctor...

I'm sorry love...
