In case you haven't noticed, the category is "Religion & Spirituality". This is not an a mutual admiration society that is solely devoted to Christian thought.

Let's see if I understand your argument:

Atheists mock god
God is not real
therefore, atheists mock that which is not real

Is that where you're going with this? I could mock Santa Claus, if you like. It's the same to me.

Or are you asserting that, because we come here to participate, and challenge the beliefs of others, we are not free thinkers? What does one have to do with the other?

Or is the assertion that God's power is real, as evidenced by the number of atheists who mock his non-existence?

No matter how you look at it, your question is more of a tangled mess than my mama's knitting basket.

I believe that organized religion is harming the U.S., and am here to for two specific goals:
1) To learn more about what religious people believe
2) To defend reason and science, in the hopes that a few religious people will become more open minded.

I do occasionally mock specific religious claims. I try not to mock people, but heck, I'm not perfect, and occasionally I let myself be provoked. There are of course some atheists here who seem to take enjoyment in mocking people, but jerks come in all varieties.

We do not mock Gods power. We do mock the mentality of those who follow illogic whilst denying logic.
I come here because occassionally, somebody asks a question which forces me to think and maybe understand things a little better as a result of that.
These questions make me uncomfortable but this is something you are never likely to achieve.

God uses them to keep us awake. Ever researched a question that was posted by an atheists. You not only get a good answer for their question, you also learn so much. Sometimes the atheists make you dig philosophicallly deeper and you come up with thoughts you never had before.

A favorite concerns Christians being afraid of God. I asked myself that question and found I do not fear God as in being afraid, but I have an awesome respect of God based on his power and goodness. I found I am following God, as are most Christians, out of love and gratitude.

Your question about free thinking is interesting. I suppose atheists believe they are free thinking, but in reality they are a part of that "all things work together for the good of those that believe in God."

I wonder the same thing. If God really isnt real then why do they spend so much energy trying to disprove His existence to those who believe?
That would be like those who know God is real spending a great deal of energy and time arguing that fairies arent real. We dont bother because its not important.

It's our duty to mock pompous, self-centered hypocrites and their devoted and delusional followers. There's absolutely no difference between a jesus freak, a Britanny Spears fan or a political zealot.

My Top 3 responses to your question.

1) I don't mock God, I question christian's reasoning.

2) Check your grammer.

3) This is not Y!A Christianity, it is Y!A Religion and Spirituality. Just because people are atheist doesn't mean they aren't philisophical.

I'm going to answer this question by paraphrasing a conversation between Capt. James T. Kirk and a pompous bureaucrat. The bureaucrat said "Kirk, I think you are taking this project very lightly!"

Kirk said, "No, no, that's not true; I take this project very seriously...it's you I take lightly."

Think about it.
