My son is very picky and my daughter is about half as picky. Please tell me some recipe ideas that have helped you or someone you know to satisfy another picky child.

Things my son likes:
Pasta, pizza, cereal, junk food (of course), fruit, and hot dogs. A lot of what he eats is not very good for him and I am trying to implement some changes for all of us, but it is difficult with him being so picky.

Things he doesn't like:

Chicken, ground beef, and vegetables

Thanks for any help you can give.

What sometimes works is to have the kids help to cook the meal. If they've actually participated in the preparation, they're more involved and excited and will sometimes -- not always, but sometimes -- end up trying and liking what they've fixed. Try something simple and fun. Since your son likes pasta, you could try some kind of a noodle casserole. You say he doesn't like chicken, but would he be willing to try "white meat" from a can, mixed with the pasta? (So often kids decide that they don't like something before they really know what it tastes like, only to discover much later that they actually love it! Sometimes it only takes a different method of preparation.) Does he like olives? He could dump in a can of sliced olives and help mix it up. There are lots of possible combinations.
It's a frustrating problem and I wish you luck.

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

ok depends on how young they are to get them to change but try chicken fillets with mango chutney and apricot, its great with children because of the sweet and sour taste.
2 chicken breats off the bone and skinned
Sauce
i tablespoon apricot jam
i table spoon mano chutney
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
i teaspoon worcestershre sauce
i tablespoon lemon juice

mix all the ingredients together for the sauce. put the chicken into a small ovenproof dish, pour over the sauce and cover the dish with tin foil. Bake in an oven gas mark 4 for 30 minutes

I think that because your son likes pasta its a really good start. If you want to get some more vegetables into him a good idea is to make a tomato sauce with some other finely chopped or blended vegetables in. He'll hardly notice the other vegetables. Also a good idea is to involve him with the cooking as much as you can, get him to help you chop vegetables (not with a sharp knife of course) let him give the pasta a bit of a stir and let him get his hands into cake or bread mixture and have a bit of a go at it. He's more likely to eat something he's 'helped' make himself.

The book Playing With Your Food is fun for kids. You make animals out of vegetables. Try to make the food more interesting. peanut butter on celery with raisins is called Ants on a Log-find something that he likes and make it out of food.Chicken can be ground up and made into cupcake shapes and the icing can be strained carrots. Same with ground beef-meatloaf is more fun if made in muffin cups and mashed potatoes as the icing with shredded carrots as hair on top of the meatloaf cupcake. Funny shaped pasta in soup. Good luck!

"Combos" (combinations) worked well for me. You make a forkful composed of 90% of something they like and 10% of something they don't. Like a pea completely surrounded with mashed potato. I read somewhere that if the tongue is exposed to a little bit of something often enough, it eventually grows accustomed to the taste.

You could also try anything with ketchup.

As for recipes: pies, pizza, quiche, stew - anything with all the bits mixed up, but keep the bits small so it's not obvious what they are.

Soup never works for me, though.

well my son is fussier than yours....his into the whole sandwich phase...either cheese and cucumber or peanut butter and honey..and thats for breaky lunch and dinner..the joys of motherhood..
but seeing that your little man likes pizza how about cutting up some vegies make a base put tomato sauce base and then let him put the ham cheese and vegies on top....then he can eat that himself....
my friend has had success with this one....hope it helps....but remember they will grow out of it so dont stress too much...i give my boy a multi vitamin daily for my own piece of mind...
