Economically, Australia got trade agreements with countries that it supported in World War 2 and Vietnam War. Military participation enable its soldiers to acquire skills from other countries. There is not much impact on social and political aspects.

Australia has affected the Northern Hemisphere West by sacrificing as like minded politically aligned allies.

I like the Aussies, their good people, and security wise they think like americans, despite what a vocal minority over there might say.

BTW, John Howard rocks! I think he should be the next US president.

One answer comes to mind that I believe the Australians have mastered = they have learned how to successfully be isolationist. Think about it. You never hear of them on for forefront of any conflict. They have mastered being able to stay out of conflict while also establishing trade, etc...

Not sure how they did this but they should be an example the world should follow.
