My natural hair color is brown but I currently have blonde highlights. My roots have grown back a lot and I want to just dye my hair MYSELF a dark brown but NOT black. I just wanna cover up the blonde highlights right now. I'm scared there might be a red tint or something & I deff. do not want that. Does anyone know what EXACT color I should dye it with?

Also, I was thinking maybe just dye it a chocolate color brown? I need your advice please.

Your highlights are going to take the color differently from the rest. Do not choose an ash color to do the dye back (unless you like green tones). And if you do not want warm tones in your hair do not choose a color that says "warm", "golden", "honey", or "auburn." I would recommend a demi color one shade lighter than your natural color and use a neutral color....usually designated on the box by a number and the letter N. like: 5N or 6N Good luck.

if you just dye it the highlights may turn a lighter brown then the rest of your hair I have spent many hours in a salon the last couple of days from trying to dye my hair at home if you can afford it go to a salon and have them do it. Good luck!!!!!!

Hair has natural higlights anyway so I would not worry about the little bit of difference you end up with... I would start with a color lighter than you want it may end up darker than you think and you can always go darker but it is hard to go lighter without professional help.

yes, i do. many colors on the box had different affects on real hair. you are looking for a shade lighter than your hair, most likely a chestnut brown. that should work on your blonde highlights.

LOREAL PREFERENCE medium brown does really well. I like it. It does not have a reddish tint.
