i think that our leaders who sent our sons to iraq should be in front leading them. maybe we wouldn't be there. my son is in iraq. i am proud of him, i was in vietnam, they spit on me, i am just glad that our people treat these veterans with respect and honor, unlike we were.

I think that are guys and gals in the armed forces are awesome. I value want they are doing for me everyday and I am not just talking about the war in Iraq. There are so many more soldiers that are not in the war but still provide a great service to the citizens of the United States.
As for what Kerry and Rangel think. They are not the ordinary U.S. citizen and goest to show how out of touch with the military they are. They cannot speak for me. I want the service men and women know that a majority of Americans stand behind you and thank you for your service. God Bless and God Speed!

First off that is not what Kerry said. As ex-Army I agree with what Kerry actually said ... being that if you don't stay in school you might end up stuck in Iraq. He meant that during a draft, they take the dropouts first. This has been historically true but I am doubting truth is sought here.

The US soldiers in Iraq must be supported instead of criticized because they are jsut following orders from their superiors. On the other hand, the US has a lot of resources as against the perception of some that it is indebted and already poor.

As the wife of a retired soldier I support our men in service with all my heart. It doesn't matter what anyone else says. If you are a soldier you know why you do what you do so lift your heads high and know that you are a superior people doing what most are afraid to do. I salute you for the sacrifices you make each and every day. It's a thankless job and the pay stinks but where would we be without you. Carry on!

Kerry was a draft dodger. I also see him as a traitor. He went into river boats to avoid combat but got surprised when their mission changed and he got shot at. Too bad!!!!!!! I hope that Purple Heart scratch on his arm doesn't have a bad effect on his quality of life as my shot knees and shoulder do for me.

Rangle is just a big city fat cat daddy who likes to hear himself speak.

Bush Jr was also a draft dodger opting for the ANG which never sees any action except for new equipment arrival days when they USAF hand-me-downs.

As much as I dislike Sen. Kerry, I don't think that's what he said. I think he was trying to make a joke, and the man just doesn't have a sense of humor. To his credit, he apologized later.

His "botched joke" meant that if you don't get an education, the military may be your only option -- especially if you are a kid in a poor small town whose last factory moved out of town decades ago. (That's why recruiters adverstise the educational benefits of joining the military.)

It had nothing to do with the average intelligence of people serving in the military.
