(They don't do a good job of braking when this happens and I am affraid it may be the hydraulic pump.)

This happens rarely. It is getting more frequent. When it does happen it pulsates violently and the vehicle takes about twice as long to stop.

I can't believe Dodgeman, being a "mechanic" for over 36 yrs and yahoo "expert" would say "monitor your brakes"!!?? If you think you have a problem with a major safety item, your brakes! have them checked out ASAP!! Driving a vehicle is a priviledge, be safe to yourself and your fellow drivers on the road.

i own a repair shop, and these are anti lock brakes, and even if the pump goes out it wont affect your being able to stop the vehicle any at all, some of these did give problems ,but it wasn't anything serious though, and the pulsating your feeling is somewhat normal to a point,if its pushing on the pedal you may have a warped rotor on it,other than that all anti lock brakes do pulsate a little, but in time you get to the point that you don't notice it,so if yours is getting noticeable, you may have an issue with a pump ,but for now like you said they stop good, and are giving no problems,i would monitor them though ,and see if it got any worse, and if so then you can have them looked at,good luck i hope this help,s.

Sounds like your ABS system is being activated. I would suggest taking it to the dealer and get it checked out right away. Don't play around with your brakes, someone could get hurt or worse, die.

Generally pulsating (on their own) can be traced back to a fault in the ABS system or, if equipped, traction control. The ABS system should set a check engine light but the traction control may not.

If you are in snow and ice, it will pulsate. ABS is worthless, after all, they didn't have it on old cars.
