Your tattoo should never be "moist" If thats the word you feel describes it best LAY OFF THE LOTION. you're putting too much on. Any light unscented white lotion is fine, cocoa butter for preference. A&D depending on the type can cause fading so make sure it doesnt contain a zinc oxide if that is your own preference. Put a thin coating on, if the skin is shiny even after you've rubbed it in a little dab the excess off lightly with a paper towel.

You can put nothing on it and it would be fine, dry and itchy but fine. Lotion needs only to be applied whenever your skin feels like its tightening up. I get very dry skin myself and sometimes have to put it on rather often. Only you can know for sure how many times it needs it, if in doubt don't put any on. Less is more when healing a tattoo.

Never cover your tattoo, by covering it you're stopping the air from getting to it and impeding the healing process.

you should only apply the lotion 3-4 times a day, only more then that if it feels tight or like its ripping that sounds horrible but if you over do it your color can bleed out and definitely never cover it, it needs to breath that's why most tattoo artists suggest using lotion instead of A&D which can actually keep tats from being able to breath because it all thick and goopy........Good luck!!!!!

it is best if you let it air. what kind of lotion are you using? that could be the problem...it may not be thick enough. when i got my first tattoo i used lubriderm with no scent (just the very plain kind, you can find it anwyhere). i would stay away from anything with perfume or alcohol, as this could be drying it out as well. you can always try some neosporin as well, that is thicker and may work better with swelling/healing, etc.
hope that helps!

DO NOT cover your tattoo. you don't want to suffocate it. it'll dry out even if you moisturize is 4 times a day or whatever. but don't cover it. it'll go through many stages before it heals. but the main thing is, just keep it clean, and moisturize. don't over do it.

you shouldn't cover it. you should wash it a few times a day with antibacterial soap and you should keep it moisturised. you don't have to keep it "wet" with lotion or anything it just shouldn't be dry dry the rest of your skin.

don't bandage it, and go to the tattoo shop and by whatever kind of lotion they sell for it. whatever you do don't use triple antibiotic like neosporin or vasaline.

Do not cover it!!
I have used A&D ointment on each of my 6 tatts...my hubby used A&D and his sleeves..actually one of them. The one that he didn't use A&D on is faded, and the one that he did use it on is still very vibrant.
