In my opinion, no. Whatever you do should be to God’s glory.

The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should cause us to question. The New Testament does not say anything about whether a believer should or should not get a tattoo.

In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). The Bible does not command against tattoos or body piercings, but it also does not give us any reason to believe God would have us get tattoos or body piercings.

Another issue to consider is modesty. The Bible instructs us to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:9). One aspect of dressing modestly is making sure everything that should be covered by clothing is adequately covered. However, the essential meaning of modesty is not drawing attention to yourself. People who dress modestly dress in such a way that they do not draw attention to themselves. Tattoos and body piercings most definitely draw attention. In this sense, tattoos and body piercings are not modest.

I would take offense to being considered Christian but as an atheist I can't find anything sinful morally unethical or otherwise
uncouth in having a tattoo although I personally have never found one that I would be happy with .

Personally, I do.

I don't condemn others who do it, but me personally - I feel that it's not something God wills for us to do.

'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:28

I realize some would argue that it's OLD testament, and don't apply, etc. etc. etc...

However, given the fact that our lives should be an act of worship; I hardly see how tattooing brings Glory to God. (considering the motive for doing so is usually "self")

Again, I don't judge others - my convictions just lead me to believe it's not right.

Scripture teaches that we are free and says that "all things are permitted" but adds "not all things are good". (1 Cor 10:23)

To know if tattoos are "good", look at an old person with tattoos. They shift, they distort, they blur and even when they are new and shiny they become boring pretty quickly.

Tattoos are not one way tickets to hell but they aren't a good use of your skin.

Tattoos and body piercings have always been signs of animal ownership, human slavery, and spiritual bondage. Along with face paint and coverings; all mark men who are at war with God in the spiritual realm.

If you are free in Christ Jesus why would you want to take on any marks in your body?

God is going to let you into his gates no matter if you have tattoos or not!!!! As long as you have gave your life to him, and asked or forgiveness of all your sins. Tattoos dont matter to GOD, your love and belief for him does!!!!
