Strike up an innocent, casual conversation. Don't just go up to the guy and say, "hey I want your number." That puts you in an awkward position if he says "no" on the basis of a g/f or whatever. If you're outgoing and don't mind rejection, by all means, ask away...but I personally would suggest you not doing that in a closed environment (like school, work, etc where other ppl will find out about it). If you've never met him then I wouldn't. Make sure he's not a loon or a jerk then if he's a nice guy, ask him his number or even ask him out. I've been out with women that have made the first move but none of them asked without having a few conversations first. Good luck!!

The truth is, why not? We should all be like that:)
I would say--don't be surprised if he's a bit startled for a second or two; he'll also be very, very flattered (& impressed). When he gets a hold of himself, he'll likely make you feel very glad that you asked, even if he has another interest.
You can also approach through a third party to 'break the ice'.

i guess it depends. if ur not shy then i say go for it especially if u don't know if you'll ever see him again. But if you see him around a lot then i think u should get to know him a little bit.

I will love that to happen to me and I think everyguy, no matter who he is or how he reacts, he will feel good with the experience pf something like that.
