I walked on it for 6 months before the pain made me go to a DR. After another 6 months and an MRI they found a hairline fracture that had not healed right. The pain is much worse now. I have NO insurance, and am forced to go to a free clinic. I cannot work, stand, sit or lay in one spot for any length of time. I recently developed some bad side effects to Ibuprophen, so I'm back to aspirin. Strongest meds I can get at the clinic is Vicodin, and they only give me 30 pills for 90 days. I have gained weight and I'm miserable, the pain even interfears with my attention span and memory. I have nightmares where I'm being tortured. Does ANYONE know of a Dr that will see me in the So.California area for free? Or any other ideas for medication that I can safely use that is LEGAL? I believe that I also have Pagets Disease of the bone, but the Clinic has thus far refused to test me for it. Is there any testing being done out there that I can get in on, clinical trials??? HELP! I'm 49.

I fell at home, moving a bale of hay, I fell about 2 feet, my weight was all on my right hip, I heard a 'click'. Yes, I have arthrities in it, thats how they found the fracture. It's next to a nerve cluster. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia over 15 years ago, the pagets symptoms have come on in the past year, long bones in legs, sometimes in arms and hip and pelvis pain BAD when lying down. Have 3 vert. in lower spine with OA too. I can't take Tylenol either now, at least not enough to be effective. I am 'allowed' to see a Dr for 10 minutes every 3 months, max. The rhumatology dept. won't see me as I'm not in ENOUGH pain for their standards. I can't get on disability as even though I qualified, I found that my personal info was being given to my Husbands ex, including access to my bank records. So I dropped my attempt to get disability. We have a small web based business that I am able to run, but no insurance.(DH is 67 and has medicare and supplement, thank God!)

Hi...I'm a nurse and I read your situation. I felt obligated to help. I found a website called, "knights of kindness." I don't know much about it, but if you keep browsing through this site it will lead you to info about free care, clinical trials, etc. I had to maneuver through it a while. But, I found a clinical trial that offered hip replacements free. This may be right up your alley. It is in Sacramento though. The name of the place is Sutter Institute. It may be too far for you. But, hopefully the web site will be able to steer you in the right direction. Good Luck and I hope this will be able to help somewhat. No one should have to endure that kind of pain on a daily basis. Especially in this country. No reason for it.

There is a lot that just doesn't sound right about your history. You say you broke your hip. How did you break it, how was it diagnosed? Where is the break on your hip? A hairline fracture may not heal correctly, but it will heal unless there is something else wrong. Pagetic bone has a characteristic appearance on x-rays and should have been found with the workup you have had.

Paget's disease occurs most frequently in the spine, skull, pelvis, thighs, and lower legs.

It just sounds strange that you could go for 7 years with the type of pain you are describing.

If what you are saying is true, you should have lawyers flocking to you to sue for malpractice of missing something as easy to diagnose as Pagets and be missed for 7 years.

you may have arthritis settling in where the fracture is
try tylenol extra strength or the tylenol gel pills for inflamation
you dont need a scrip for these and they arent expensive you can find them at a drugstore
