Unfortunately, you either have to get it stripped or bleached. There are hair dyes that work for hair that is dark naturally, but they won't work over black dye. I dyed my hair black, and when I tried to get it out I had to bleach it like 3 times before the dye even started to come out. Go to a salon. They'll be able to do it without frying your hair, although it may be expensive.

ahhh I dyed my hair black too! And because I have always had naturally dark hair, I wanted a change and to go lighter. I went to the salon, and they had to bleach it or w/e like 3 times to get the dye out! Black's the strongest dye they said. But anyway, go to a salon & bring a picture of what you want and they'll know what to do. I did and it came out great. : )

There are things called color erasers which are very similar to but not bleach that will lift a shade or two from your hair. You should seek the advice of a professional before attempting any of these things. Condition your hair well.
