If you believe in Hell, do you honestly believe there is a very real possibility that you will go there for all eternity, or do you feel smugly sure that only other people go to Hell?

I'd say the OP is an accurate description of the Christian concep of Hell: "Everyone is going to Hell except for everyone who thinks like me." Followed immediately by a lot of tap-dancing about how such an attitude somehow isn't arrogant or smug.

What's especially funny is how Christian sects cannot agree on just what it means to be "bathed in the blood of the lamb" (What a disgusting image, too. Evidently blood sacrifice was the only thing to sate their crazy God's appetite...until God magically sacrificed himself to himself to appease his own wrath. No, it makes no sense to me either.)

I believe that the only people who go to Hell are the ones who choose to. If that's "smugly sure", then I guess I am.

If you believe in heaven, you would almost invariably believe you know how to qualify for admission.

There's a good probability that you believe that anyone not meeting your admission standatrd won't get in.

If there is no heaven, there is no hell and what anyone believes won't matter.

If there is a hell, there is a heaven....

But there being an afterlife does not of necessity mean there IS a hell...

No one has brought back positive proof that there is a heaven or hell which has been universally accepted as real.

It looks like you get your answer eventually (because no one gets out of life alive)

But unless you are willing to believe in what someone says about the afterlife.... you'll never get an answer that you'll accept.

Time is a measure of a mass in motion relative to another mass. In the afterlife there is mass, and therefore no time. Hell is just a threat to be believed by the simple-minded and pretended to be believed by the people selling the idea.

Here is the deal, Hell is a very real place. People go to Hell because they have sinned against a Holy God. Only those that have been forgiven (through repentance and faith in christ alone) will go to Heaven. Heaven isn't filled with good people, just bad people that have been forgiven.

I feel sure that ONLY people who do not accept the payment that was made for their sins will go there.

Jesus died on the cross to rescue you from hell, you must accept the free gift! If not, hell is certain.

I believe in hell, and I know I'm not going there, but smug? No way, grateful and blessed is more like it! I am one of those who would love to see everyone go to Heaven, and I feel bad for those I see that die before they get the opportunity to really know God. I feel sad for God too, because I know how heartbreaking it can be to lose a child, and He really does think of us as His children.

I don't wish that on anyone. Each person has an equal opportunity to spend eternity in Heaven. Some however have made alternate plans. I pray for those.

See you in Heaven.

It seems to me that the majority of people who belong to a specific religion and believe in hell, often believe that they are it, and if you do not have the same beliefs.....you are gonna burn baby.
